OK so i just created a new party called the Freedom Party.

The Democrats want to destroy our freedom by taking away all our monies.

The Republicans want to take away our liberties in the name of religion and overuse military power.

We need a new party of smaller governemnt, more freedom.

Our main platform is lower taxes, states rights on abortion, legalized weed and i poker to get the pot voters out.

How come my candidate will get like zero votes when these ideas seem more in line with what america wants than the two parties give us??

1. I doubt you will put any more effort into this "party" than posting on the internet.

2. Those ideas are only in line with what America wants until you start getting into specifics.

I think the op is asking why a new political party that reflects public opinion better than dems and reps wouldnt compete with them. Its a good question because public policy differs quite often from public opinion. You would think that in a democracy political parties would strive to reflect public opinion. It would seem logical for the survival of the party. Thats not really the case because America is not a democracy in that sense. The success of the 2 party system is a reflection of the fact that their support comes from elite interests. Were all just spectators dumbed down by PR.
