How many people out of 10 think... How many people out of 10 think...

That one vote means nothing.

Is it 1 out of 10? 5 out of 10? Obviously we're estimating here.

And, if it's 5 out of 10 people think that, and subsequently act on that premise, doesn't it actually refute their own premise?

I see an overwhelming amount of people who think their votes matters in the least. Some MIGHT vote occasionally, but overall, they think they're just going through the motions, they most certainly don't do any research, and the vote AGAINST someone more than they vote FOR someone. They do what seems either trendy, or against the grain.

You should have created a poll, and then compared thread views to votes to draw your conclusion. It's not too late.

just removing the hogwash from this post

but yes, many people realize their individual vote out of 100 million doesn't matter all that much, but they still vote for various reasons, one such reason is the sense of civic duty/pride that comes from voting. there are others, but you've clearly done no research into the subject, so I won't be the one to spoil that adventure for you.

Also, my vote doesn't matter.......... except one time in this local race, some dude only won by 1 vote, and I didn't have time to vote that day and was PISSED that I could have been the tying vote. Then I realized that I would have voted for the guy that won anyway, so it still didn't matter. That made me feel better.

If everyone thinks that their vote matters then their vote matters.

I would weigh in on this, but I doubt my vote even matters.

I'd guess around 3/10 people don't think their vote is relevant.

I don't vote and my argument for not voting is that the amount of time it takes for me to vote is not worth the significance that my vote has. People don't usually like that argument.
