Beale is a good sport, and his dog is cute. These are all good reasons for him to be a mod.

Baltimore police commissioner just got canned.
07-08-2015 , 04:59 PM
The gods did not save him.
07-08-2015 , 05:11 PM
The mayor orders him to let the rioters do what they want, resulting in great harm to the citizens and the businesses of Baltimore, and now he is gone.

Seems pretty clear the mayor has to cover her ass by getting rid of all the witnesses to her incompetence. No surprise here.

It's not like he's dead, he can still talk about her incompetence.

As we all can.

The prospects for Baltimore are bleak if they try to find a commissioner made in her image.

What would you have done ?

She did the right thing which, btw, was not to let the rioters do w/e they wanted. Sometimes firefighters do the same thing: Let a structure burn while they save others. I think an approach designed to potentially save lives rather than property is prudent.

Kima would make an excellent new commissioner.

If any of you remember the video of the homeless man killed on Skid Row earlier this year, here's the complete story and it's pretty ugly. It might have been discussed in the Mike Brown thread...who knows anymore.

http://www.gq.com/story/skid-row-pol...charly-keunang

Quote:
In the video the public sees,a glint of sun on a squad car, reflected light dissecting the scene, and Volasgis, shouting, "He has my gun! He has my gun!"
Quote:
"You got your gun?" one of the other officers asks.

Volasgis reaches down. His gun. The gun they will say they believed to be in Charly's possession. It's in his holster. It never left his holster. He draws it. Charly's hand twitches.
Quote:
And meanwhile, a woman—her name is Trishawn Carey, but on the street people call her Nicki Minaj—walks around the knot of men and picks up the nightstick Volasgis has dropped. What she means to do with it isn't clear. It was not likely clear to her. She's "fifty-one fifty," say many who know her, slang for insane. Later, when I visit her in jail—her bail is set at $1,085,000, and she could face life without parole for picking up the stick with which she didn't touch a soul

Again, it's pathological. They itch for a day when the police could let loose on the rabble, and now they're angry at the (imaginary!) denial of their authoritarian impulses. It's the next best thing to cracking a skull yourself!

Err he got canned for literally creating a riot by kettling kids for no reason at a mall, for escalating the situation to violence by rolling around like they were in Fallujah and lying to the media about gangs coming together to murder cops to justify their massive overreaction.

Also the tactics of letting rioters mostly do what they want isn't just legit, it's proven highly effective at minimising injuries and deaths. See London for eg.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but didn't things improve in Baltimore after the so called stand down order?

I mean quotes from disappointed thugs who missed their chance to crack some skulls are hardly indicative of the scandal you seem to think.

Plus it's worth noting you think the guy got fired to cover up a story that got national attention at the time.

Meh she's lucky to be alive. Once she picked up that stick, all 5+ officers could have easily feared for their lives and insta-firesquaded her. Hell, they'd have been more justified in that than killing the homeless guy.

I also like the part where this cop Martinez completely fabricates an assault with a nonexistent bat:
Quote:
A conflict was documented by the Union Rescue Mission's security camera: Charly tipped Laru's tent into the street. Kicked it a couple of times. Then he sat down on his milk crate. Crawled into his tent. No bat, big or little.

The detectives ask Martinez if he saw a bat. No, he says. But he can imagine it: "For the benefit of the tape," say the detectives, describing what we can't see on the audio recordings, Martinez is holding his hands "about maybe eighteen to twenty inches apart."

"Assault with a deadly weapon, then?" the detectives ask after more questions.

"Yes it is," says Martinez.
And then this part is like something straight out of South Park:
Quote:
"Stop resisting!" he says, to the body on the ground [...] They roll the body and twist its arms behind its back. To protect themselves. In case it struggles.

Err the protests ended May 3rd. Pointing to an article saying murders are up throughout May, one specifically talking about a murder end of May strengthens the case that the chief of police needed to be **** canned. His hands are stained red.

We know cops were on a go slow cos some of them got charged. ****ing thug scum. Hopefully the new guy in charge changes the culture.

Well hey, locking her up is better than killing her so she should feel lucky. Nothing else to see here.

rara is the poster who said that at least white people don't burn down their neighborhood, so sort of skeptical he suddenly has lots of concern for Baltimore residents.
