The GOP war on voting The GOP war on voting

I hope the system is capable of stopping cats turning to vote and casting ballots.

Let me know how ID laws will prevent vote buying schemes.

So now you admit you're just trolling?

Carrying water is one notch higher than trolling. At least he has a purpose beyond his own narcissism.

Would it matter if he did admit it?

Add another to the count of "Republican politicians admitting they're trying to squash minority votes":

Quote:
On voter suppression, Greer said he had just completed a December 2009 meeting with party general counsel Jason Gonzalez, political consultant Jim Rimes and Eric Eikenberg, Crist's chief of staff, when questions arose about fundraising.

"I was upset because the political consultants and staff were talking about voter suppression and keeping blacks from voting. It had been one of those days,'' he said.
From here; Jim Greer is a former Florida Republican Party chairman.

LOL 13TH

Greer may or may not be talking out of his ass here, he's under indictment for fraud among other things. He may be telling the truth but he's still widely considered to be a scumbag down here by pretty much everyone.
07-31-2012 , 07:36 PM
He allegedly ripped off the party in spectacular fashion, but then again he may have been told that building a shell "consulting" company was ok for him cuz, you know, good ol' boys and all.

if you were gonna lie about something to bring down gop leadership surely you could make up some more spectacular **** than stuff we all already knew was happening

Poor people make Scott Brown furious:

Quote:
I want every legal vote to count, but it’s outrageous to use taxpayer dollars to register welfare recipients as part of a special effort to boost one political party over another. This effort to sign up welfare recipients is being aided by Elizabeth Warren’s daughter and it’s clearly designed to benefit her mother’s political campaign. It means that I’m going to have to work that much harder to get out my pro-jobs, pro-free enterprise message.
All this because

Quote:
Apparently the daughter of his challenger, Elizabeth Warren, is the chairwoman of one of a few voting rights groups contracted by the state of Massachuetts to send voter registration forms to people who weren’t offered the chance to register when they applied to receive welfare benefits. That was a violation of federal law, and Massachusetts is sending these people registration forms as part of a legal settlement. And this makes Scott Brown really mad, because if you help welfare recipients vote, they’ll vote against Scott Brown, probably.

"Darn poor voters have foiled me again!"

lol Scott Brown.

If anybody is in the Philadelphia area tomorrow and wants to spend their late morning-early afternoon walking around the worst parts of Philly, a group I'm volunteering with is organizing a big canvas tomorrow. They're called the PA Voter ID coalition. Non-partisan group with support across the board just looking to spread info about the new law in places where its likely to do the most damage. Should be the first of many between now and November. And their HQ is right next to a bar.

Although I did underestimate the republican ability to not just shut up in the face of an opposite and equal counter-attack to some scurilous BS they're pulling - but actively whine about it.

This whole thing could really backfire on republicans by getting lots of volunteers fired up to register people who didn't have IDs and maybe didn't even vote.

Scott brown is actually a pretty good republican, he sided with Obama on a couple key issues when the rest of the GOP was not.

How am I the first to post about this:

When you have to stop the other guy from voting in order to win, you have some dumbass ideas.

Ohio Secretary of State Sets Uniform Voting Hours for Counties

Quote:
Ohio’s 88 counties will have uniform early voting hours to ensure residents casting ballots in the presidential election are treated equally, Secretary of State Jon Husted said.
....
Absentee voting starts 35 days before the election in Ohio, and Husted directed that election offices remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the first three weeks and until 7 p.m. on weekdays in the final two.

Man. That was Romney's biggest lie so far I think.

Maybe second biggest to medicare.
08-16-2012 , 10:09 AM
Why would you restrict early voting on weekends? I cannot think of a single logical reason to make it MORE difficult to vote in person.
