Haha what? Have you seen the last 3 yrs of obama?

Obama won 28 states in 2008 and beat mccain by 10m in the popular vote (69m-59m). You think he's actually going to do the same/better this time around? Haha...romney>mccain, plus add in the effect of the anyone but obama voters plus 3 years of failed obama policies PLUS more people are registered as independents than ever before. If you think that obama is going to carry that many states again, youre crazy. Hes in serious trouble...just go back and reference the 2010 house cleaning that the dems took (worst in 70 years). You can directly thank obama for that.

Yea except now Obama can just blame it on Congress and the republictards. This 2012 election will be a Obama-Mccain of 2008 all over again.

Also this debate has peaked my interest to look into Romneycare and how much it differs. It's hard to find an unbiased info about Romneycare. But here's an interesting read.

This is not an Obama vs. GOP thread.

Thought Newt had a good night tonight. The moon or no moon that is the question? He had a great plan and only one that showed any optomism. The only question is if the moon becomes a state and it tries to succeed, those moon rocks are going to hurt and make big holes.

It was when Wolf asked about Newt attacking Romney on Swiss/Caymen bank accounts. Newt tried to turn it on Wolf and attack it as a ridiculous question, and it was working, until Romney jumped in and was like 'oh I see you make these statements other places, it'd be nice if you stood behind them here in front of everyone ol newty.' Then it backfired on Newt.

Yeah...the approval ratings of congress will be his only talking/debating points. You dont think that the people are tired already of him blaming everyone but himself for this disaster? Its his only chance (to blame a "do nothing" congress), but lets not forget something. The dems had control for 2 yrs...they passed (urm..forced) obamacare, stimulus..etc etc. That 2010 house cleaning told you what the american people thought about those policies. The Romney/Obama debates will be fascinating because you will see the detioration of an incumbent right before your very eyes.

IMO tonight bumped up Romney's chances a bit vs Obama due to his improved debating skills. He was on fire and pretty confident. The man is still a hollow flip flopping suit to me but I wouldn't say Obama is guaranteed to debate crush him anymore.

is it worth catching the replay somewhere, or is the gold as usual in this thread?
01-27-2012 , 02:26 AM
It was pretty entertaining actually. The first half especially.
01-27-2012 , 02:28 AM
First half is worth watching.

read to post #202 and the next replay is on in 7 minutes. Sounds better than a Stewart/Colbert bit.

The woman that asked about herself, in how she can deal with medical insurance, and then RP's response is why he will never connect with the actual electorate.

Everyone on his team loves when he rails against the evil gubmit, but that wasn't her concern. So while his underlying philosophy MIGHT (because no one knows for certain) be able to eventually change the direction, it does nothing for her, and her present day issues.

I think RP's answer is partially right, but doesnt complete solve the problem. Yes medical costs would be a lot lower if there wasnt a war on drugs (so we dont need to see a doctor to get a prescription drug we think we need), or if the govt wasnt involved in other ways.

He needs a complete answer is all. And its a tough problem because people have already gotten in their head that they are entitled to free medical care.

I like the idea of health savings accounts, I think the main way to solve this problem is to encourage people to save for when they dont have health insurance. Or have them pay slightly more for health insurance but be gaurenteed it even when they lose their job. But dont force people to do this, always allow an "opt-out" program. Just make it a hassle and that way if someone loses their job and has health problems and says "woe is me" you can say something like "well if you hadnt opted-out you wouldnt be in the mess, you have no one but yourself to blame".

I dont think forcing people to have health insurance is the solution. Some people, like myself, are willing to gamble with their health (while trying to keep the odds good by living a healthy lifestyle), or believe they know enough about medicine that their need to see a doctor will be greatly diminished.

I also think not having health insurance encourages you to stay in as good health as possible and limit your doctor visits to those that are truly neccessary. This helps limit medical costs.

And maybe its just the gambler in me, but I try to avoid insurance whenever possible. Insurance just feels like adding dullness to your life.

Well you're welcome then for your implicit catastrophic insurance that we all pay for. Lol at complaining about people expecting free healthcare and then extolling free-riding on the system in the same post.

You should take a few minutes to research "preventative care".

Also, loads of money in health care could be saved if people went to their doctors sooner, rather than later, in almost every case. Not to mention all the lives that could be saved.
