The things to be mad about are (1) that they spent so much money, (2) they built this up in the minds of the voters raising said money. I contend there was never any real chance for Ossoff to win after the primary. I don't think smarter people should really be mad about him losing.

It's going to be closer precisely because we didn't really try there... GA-06 was the best chance to flip going in, but because the Democrats targeted it, the Republicans poured TONS of money into it. If the Democrats targeted SC-05, the Republicans would have done the same.

I'm starting to doubt whether we can even flip the house in 2018. It may be game, set, match, GG democracy it was a nice run.

you need to learn to live on an unlivable wage to really live.

This **** was over the minute Ossoff didn't get to 50% the first time. He needed to sneak over 50% under the cover of obscurity. At the time everyone thought round 2 was a foregone conclusion for Handel. Nothing ever really changed except the hype.

Yup... The new GOP mottos:

On abortion: Right to life.

On everything else: Living is not a human right.

We really are all ****ed aren't we
06-20-2017 , 09:23 PM
Ossoff ran an absolutely insane milquetoast centrist campaign, but yes, yes WAAF
06-20-2017 , 09:25 PM
DNC blowing 100 mil or whatever and getting boatraced by an old fat republican pretty much sums up the competency of the DNC.

It's going to put me over the edge reading President Oompa Loompa's celebratory tweets

Handel was a legitimately bad candidate with insane social views and no real qualifications but we ran ****ing Jonah from Veep on a platform stolen from one of those movie politicians whose views are designed so that it's not clear what party they are in because it doesn't matter for the plot.
06-20-2017 , 09:29 PM
CNN and MSNBC showing Ossoff up 83,875 votes to 79,868 votes w/ 60% of the precincts reporting. Are they just slow-rolling viewers or does Ossoff have a shot?

considering Ossoff ran on the corporate dem wing and Parnell is a goldman sachs guy who loaned money to himself maybe not.

Still this is gonna hurt, dems have gotten nothing so far from the anti trump movement. Next races aren't for months and they're just state races.

Pretty much this. Maybe try running some actual liberals/progressives from time to time and see what happens.

This is completely different than what NYT is reporting. Where's the official site?

104,223 KH to 91,657 JO

It's over.

The Democratic Party is a ****ing joke, really. Expect a very long next 3 1/2 years, possibly 7 1/2. It's becoming more obvious by the day that "**** TRUMP!!!!!" is not a winning message, and having a time-spent ratio of about 50:1 on trans bathrooms:jobs isn't scoring points with the WWC.

The ads that have been landing lately are tying Ossof to the DNC, Pelosi, and outside spending. Of course, the ads are being funded by outside spending, but the feeling in state is that Ossof is less concerned about Georgia and more concerned with pleasing his coastal elite donors.

Dems need to find a way to counter this image or they're going to have a lot of trouble making progress in reddish states.

Not just Ossoff, but wasn't that basically going to be the Democratic Party playbook for a lot of districts in 2018? It's not as if there are undiscovered super electable charismatic liberal bombthrowers just hanging out in swing districts, so weren't they banking on running sane candidates who promised to "hold Trump accountable" and prevent the excesses of one party rule?

uh, they all lost too so far. The dem party is just too split atm, hard to get both the say obama and bernie voters to turn out to vote for the other one.

They had the numbers backwards also. It's fixed now.

The dems have moved moderate pretty consiststently since the early 90s with the exception of the Obama era. How has that worked out for them?

Yea I don't get it. NYT saying Handel up 94,737 to 85,431 with 48% reporting. Someone is using fuzzy math somewhere.

I have to question also the wisdom of running a progressive in Tom Price's rich suburbanite district. These ain't Bernie voters. It would send a terrible message to the DNC, who are already skeptical of Berniecrats, if such a guy loses where HRC came close, and it's a stone lock imo he would lose bigly.
