And the number of executions is of course the only other difference between China and the USA, which is why we know it must be what's causing the difference in murder rates.

Europe on the other hand is totally different in many ways, so the absence of the death penalty there doesn't mean anything.

So if executions don't reduce crime rates....

Not having a death penalty would lower crime rates??

I agree that it can be a deterrent, but at what cost of innocent lives given the current systems?

I wonder what their rate of execution of innocents is?

I mean, if they're just wasting people in volumes, yeah, people step in line much more. But the question is, is that what it would have to take for it to be a deterrent?

I also agree with the comparative question about other countries who do well w/o the death penalty.

I assume that if China is being heralded as an example to copy when it comes to the death sentence are you going to execute tax evaders?

"capital punishment include smuggling out of the country prohibited cultural relics, gold, silver, and other precious metals and rare animals and their products; carrying out fraudulent activities with financial bills; and carrying out fraudulent activities with letters of credit.

The 13 crimes also include falsely issuing exclusive value-added tax invoices to defraud export tax refunds or to offset taxes; forging or selling forged exclusive value-added tax invoices; teaching crime-committing methods; and robbing ancient cultural ruins, among others."

China, a glorious example to copy when evaluating the death sentence. Clearly.

Surely if we execute all our prisoners no one would commit any crimes.

I think it would be horrifying to see what Boa thinks about putting prisoners to work in forced labor camps. I mean, their VICTIMS don't get the chance to make 4 cents an hour sewing shoes together. WHY WON'T ANYONE THINK OF THE VICTIM.

In China they execute people for just about anything. Your assertion might mean something if you quote the amount of people executed for murder.
