Nick,

You entirely missed the point. Deciding to kill people because of signs your invisible sky man friend sends to you and hearing messages through your neighbours dog are not nearly as different as believers would like to think.

When people are using these messages from the invisible sky man to take such huge decisions like going to war leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people with no real justification then the system is very broken. The image he is giving is that the invisible sky man told him to go drops some bombs on some people praying to a different invisible sky man so he invented evidence so people who didnt hear these messages from the invisible sky man would be convinced it was a good idea.

Thats pretty ****ing scary right there.

Clearly Nicholas i was talking about Iraq, which had nothing to do with the entire war on terror.

You really jump to victim quick, huh? You poor persecuted (purportedly) rich religious right-wing neocon... it must be tough. And, Felix may not have been the reason W let his puppetmasters take us to war in Iraq, but he sure as **** was the reason nobody questioned it.

But that personal favorability doesn't translate into re-election support when voters are asked if Obama deserves a second term. Says Schoen: "Despite voters feelings toward Obama personally, 56 percent say he does not deserve to be re-elected, while 38 percent say he does deserve to be re-elected president." Worse, Schoen adds, "43 percent say that Barack Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush, while 48 percent say Bush was a better president than Obama has been."
There are more of me in the US than there are of you people

Definitely a much better president than Obama is. I really hope people will understand that generations from now. Probably not though as FDR is looked upon so favorably.

FDR instituted price controls artificially determining economic equilibrium, which was responsible for dipping the US into another recession in the midst of the GD. This is unfortunately not very well known, because most people dont understand economics. Whatever. Completely different thread though.

Historians hold most presidents that kill lots of peoplez in high regard so W will be probably be thought of as one of the greats just like FDR.

Im still not 100% convinced that plane wasnt shot down. It is pretty damn close, like 99.93%, but im with the guy that says of all the conspiracies of 9/11 that is the only one that seems likely and makes sense to me.

To me, the most scary part about politicians (particularly those who can exercise military power) claiming to act upon messages from God is that such a belief seems to empower them to ignore empirical evidence and logic. If Bush believed that God wanted him to invade Iraq, it probably was pretty hard for any of his advisers to persuade him that the facts on the ground just possibly suggested that it wasn't the hottest idea.

How do you argue with someone who claims that God has told him to pursue a certain policy?
