Perhaps you prefer the term anti-statist. I hasten to use the world libertarian since they are generally too socially conservative for that.

Err, no. There aren't that many people in the world who are truly anti-statist. The tea partiers were pissed about deficit spending because they believe that it will lead to higher taxes. They don't want to abolish the government and setup AC land.

Yeah, that was a pretty sick pawning.

Made it through 2 minutes before closing the video in order to save myself another 6 minutes of torture. FU for tricking me into watching that.

I'm impressed by how much better CNN is than MSNBC or FNC... and I can only watch CNN for ~15 minutes before head asplosion. This is exactly the kind of crap that makes me detest most television news... Who the hell cares about this? Even if somebody does care, they are obviously an idiot because this doesn't matter at all. I should stop reading this thread, it just makes me angry.

Ok, I applaud your attempt at humor even though you're not very good at it, but please go back and rephrase this so it make sense.

Thanks in advance.

I will be proud to be in your file.

Between the crayon drawings and Limbaugh transcripts, I just hope there's room.

It's rather ironic that you are saying this...

Please explain.

Ohhhh, wait, did you think I meant "who the hell cares about [the video]"? I meant "who the hell cares [if Liz Cheney is going to forcefully denounce the 'birthers']". I apologize for any confusion. The "issue" in the video is ******ed, and imo only serves the interests of the crazies in the birther movement by giving them validation.

I do watch O'Rielly. I have seen him praise both Clintons and defend Hillarity.

Rachel Maddow must be an awesome journalist. I saw her criticize Barack. Twice.

O'Reilly's schtick (patently obvious to anyone nonpartisan) is to play the good cop in a good cop/bad cop routine. He brings on some idiot paid Fox News "consultant" like Dick Morris who goes on a smear campaign, then O'Reilly softens it up a little bit.

Morris, if you recall, was the pollster that said McCain was a "shoe-in". Morris also complained about the rampant sexism against Sarah Palin while simultaneously saying anytime "the big boys" pick on Hillary, "she retreats behind her apron strings." Morris gets airtime to peddle his books and Fox News gets to deliver more of the same garbage.

So yeah, if you call something like, "Hillary doesn't wear apron strings" a defense, then I suppose JohnWilkes is right about O'Reilly.

Here's an example:

Ah yes, I remember that now. The Daily Show covered that perfectly.

....which is why Jon Stewart is the most trusted news anchor in america.

So the fact that this guy was given ample air time to blow his bs around isn't taken into account when discussing the bias of the show's host, JohnWilkes?

So if I get a TV show and then continually bring on people that say things like "JohnWilkes likes to kill babies," but then respond to them by saying, "that's a little harsh - I've never seen JohnWilkes kill babies," that's just good old fashioned intellectual honesty and balance to you?

Political commentators aren't to be held to any professional standard in guest selection so long as they, from time to time, punch a hole or two in the clearly and heavily biased crap guests they invite onto their shows spout?

I have a CNBC show and I continually allow guests on who proclaim the greatness of investing in snake oil - that's cool too so long as, once every fourth interview, I remind them that, "snake oil hasn't been proven to do much, lets be fair, Joe Salesman."
08-01-2009 , 01:56 AM
Yeah but O'Reilly's "good cop" is pretty lame. He doesn't really get argumentative with people like Morris but he'll blast any liberal, etc.
08-01-2009 , 02:27 AM
I tried to get across the idea that the good cop in that post was doing a lame job of it. I guess I failed

Ah I get it now... obviously didn't get to that part, but the host was clearly a moron before the interview started so no further evidence was needed.

On a side note... for some reason I had you on my ignore list, not sure why though. Glad I didn't fyfbb user-block you since you're obviously not an idiot going by your posts itt. So I'm sorry. I snap-block anyone that I see post anything I consider intolerably stupid and have regretted it many times fwiw.

I make two statements. A second poster comments on things not in my post but somewhat related.

Then you use the second as a starting point to comment on my two statements.

Not happy with this, you make up a foolish situation, something either I or the second poster did, and expect me to reply to it.

Thanks for the laugh.

There is truth in your post.

But no one single post contains all the truth.
During the priamry season, O'Rielly defended Hillary Clinton against comments made by MSNBC.
