My dad (a retired banker), when a student at Columbia about 50 years ago, had a Money and Banking class. The entire final exam was three words long:

What is money?

He was in an unusually pissy mood that day, so gave a three word answer:

Money is sweat.

He got an F and had to re-take the class the next semester, but his answer had a lot of truth in it.

dont know where to put this, but kansas is sinking in the failboat with cali

Kan. - Kansas has suspended income tax refunds and may not be able to pay employees on time, the state's budget director said Monday.

The state doesn't have enough money in its main bank account to pay its bills, prompting Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to suggest transferring $225 million from other accounts throughout state government. But the move required approval from legislative leaders, and the GOP refused Monday.

If you drew a line from the upper-left-most corner of Mexico to the southeastern-most corner of Argentina and the southeastern-most corner of Chile, would the line to Chile be longer?

(I don't know the answer or anything, just curious and that's one possible definition for "Latin America goes from X to X")

Epic fail Comedy Central. Thank you.
They turn off the censors late at night in some instances. They had a roast of Pam Anderson on at like 3am a couple weeks ago where she was wearing some see-through shirt and everyone was swearing up a storm.

goofy, I dunno what u mean by southeastern-most corner of argentina, Argentina is kinda like a square on the north and a 90 degree triangle on the south.
If you use other standars than north to south, you could also say LA goes from Mexico to Argentina, Mexico to uruguay even mexico to brazil. Now that I see the map Mexico to Argentina doesnt leave Chile out because Mexico is much more to the west than Chile.

Cape Horn belongs to Chile as does the southernmost town of Puerto Toro. so the southeastern most point of Chile would be the longer line.

Yeah but if you put east into the equation things get more complicated, but yeah ship the most to the south country in the world .

I was looking at that same map, and just saying, in MSPaint both of these lines have the same pixel length. This is obviously flawed though due to map projections/curvature of the earth/my clicking inaccuracy/etc, but it's not clear which one might actually be longer.

The reason why I would say it's Mexico/Chile or Mexico/Argentina fwiw (and not any other countries) is because the longest line you can possibly draw between two locations in LA is obviously going to be between one of those pairs.

They see things different in Argentina. Look at the big picture:

They say Argentina extends into Antarctica. Nobody else cares enough to argue with them.

LOL Olbermann obv has Paul Krugman talking about how the stimulus plan isn't enough. He also said that all the spending in the bill was good stuff. Is he some kind of champion to the far left?
02-16-2009 , 09:16 PM
Olbermann just said that Republicans think FDR "caused the Depression", then burst into forced laughter, and made some "jokes" about him having a time machine, and Winston Churchill causing Macbeth to abdicate. This guy is an ultra douche, it's unreal.

does anybody know any good youtube portals? Youtube is banned in Turkey, though randomly i can access youtube for an hour or two but never at the same times from day to day. Proxies are good but i get lag time and its a hassle to collate lists of proxies to find ones that work at a decent speed.

Also, I should point out that this discussion is irrelevant if you consider Brazil part of Latin America.
