My source was Juan Cole's site, fwiw. I don't find it terribly accurate or insightful but I like posting fun pictures in the NC thread.

So anyone see this fun thing: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1272143.html

Corrections Corporation of America, the nation's largest operator of for-profit prisons, has sent letters recently to 48 states offering to buy up their prisons as a remedy for "challenging corrections budgets." In exchange, the company is asking for a 20-year management contract, plus an assurance that the prison would remain at least 90 percent full, according to a copy of the letter obtained by The Huffington Post.
The underlined is potentially disconcerting.

Dude, music was forever changed because of that guy. Every new band that you like since that time in some way wouldn't be here if it weren't for him.

Kurt Cobain was like the Jimi Hendrix of the 90s

I like Nirvana, but give me a break.

Is the "lol Blum" based solely on the fact that OBL recommended that read his book? Or are there additional things?

There was a pretty good thread in OOT a while back that noted that for whatever reason while Nirvana changed the musical industry tremendously there really aren't a lot of bands that were influenced by them. Like today there aren't really any successful bands that are trying to sound like Nirvana.

They were really good but I think their influence and how good they actually were are overstated because of early death syndrome.
