Close, well -- not really.
The cheating on the wife thing didn't come to light until after the text message story broke.

He fired the two officers because they got too close while investigating a murder of a stripper who attended a big party at the mayors house (which supposedly never happened).
The officers sued the city and won. Mayor testifies he wasn't ****ing his chief of staff, and he fired the officers for just cause. Mayor said he would fight the injustice. Defense attorney says "hey, I got these text messages (which prove he was ****ing his chief of staff, and suggest the firings were not just)", suddenly the Mayor wants to settle. Secret deal struck to hide the text messages and payout 8.4 million.
Detroit Free Press gets ahold of some of the text messages. All hell breaks loose.
Mayor holds press conference saying it's a racial thang, a conspiracy. Says people are trying to "lynch" him.
Charges brought against the Mayor and his chief of staff.
Hilarity ensues
