A while ago we heard this guy spent $1k of campaign money on steam games and we understood because video games are great. and then we saw him vape in a congressional hearing and we loved him because vaping is ****ing cool as ****.

but now we're unfortunately learning that our cool friend Duncan is indicted for 60 counts of fraud and it has come as a huge shock. basically the feds have this guy on tape or text messaging with his wife detailing his whole crime spree while he casually disparages the navy and plots to scam money from wounded soldiers--which is why we love him!

16. Throughout the relevant period, the HUNTERS spent substantially more than they earned. They overdrew their bank account more than 1,100 times in a seven-year period resulting in approximately $37,761 in “overdraft” and “insufficient funds” bank fees. Their credit cards were frequently charged to the credit limit, often with five-figure balances, resulting in approximately $24,600 in finance charges, interest, and other fees related to late, over the limit, and returned payment fees.

17. By virtue of these delinquencies — as well as notifications of outstanding debts and overdue payments from their children’s school, their family dentist, and other creditors the HUNTERS knew that many of their desired purchases could only be made by using Campaign funds.

...

On or about November 19 to 29, 2015, the HUNTERS spent $14,261.33 (including airfare) in Campaign funds to pay for a family vacation to Italy.

On or about November 23, 2015, in an attempt to justify the use of Campaign funds to pay for the family’s trip to Italy, DUNCAN HUNTER attempted to set up a day tour of a U.S. naval facility in Italy. After Navy officials responded that they could only provide a tour on a particular date, DUNCAN HUNTER said he would discuss the proposed date with MARGARET HUNTER, then subsequently told his Chief of Staff, “tell the navy to go f*** themselves [no alteration in original],” and no tour occurred.

...

116) On or about March 20, 2015, when DUNCAN HUNTER told MARGARET HUNTER that he was planning “to buy my Hawaii shorts” but had run out of money, she counseled him to buy the shorts at a golf pro shop so that they could falsely describe the purchase later as “some [golf] balls for the wounded warriors.”

119) On or about April 7, 2015, in Lahaina, Hawaii, the HUNTERS spent $6,288.74 in Campaign funds at the Aston Kaanapali Shores resort to pay for a family vacation.

...

75) On or about December 4, 2012, in San Diego, California, MARGARET HUNTER spent $145.46 in Campaign funds at Bloomingdale’s to purchase cosmetics for personal use.

82) On or about June 17, 2013, in El Cajon, California, DUNCAN HUNTER spent $163.53 in Campaign funds at Best Buy to purchase a pair of sports headphones for his personal use. At this time, the HUNTER family bank account had a negative balance and incurred three insufficient funds fees (totaling $102).
but don't worry bros, because all of this is not even real.

Rep. Duncan Hunter statement: Prosecution a witch hunt
“I believe in our American system of justice, I support our system of justice. I cannot say the same, however, for those within our justice system that have a political agenda to harm those with whom they differ.

“One of the pillars of our country since its founding is that those tasked with enforcing the law would do so in an unbiased manner, allowing evidence to dictate how cases should run, with nothing impeding the rule of law. Unfortunately, this is not the case today. The fact is that there is a culture operating within our Justice Department that is politically motivated.

“We are seeing this with President Trump; we are seeing this with my case. This is evidenced by the fact that after two years of investigating, the Department of Justice decided to take this action right before my election. For over two years, I have made myself available to cooperate with this investigation in any manner. To date, I have not been asked one time to answer any questions or address any issue. I have not had one opportunity to present my side of anything in this investigation or to counter any allegations against me.

“All the while, there has been a constant barrage of misinformation and salacious headlines in our media regarding this matter. I purposely choose to remain silent, not to feed into this witch-hunt and trust the process.

“I have focused on one thing; doing the job with which I was elected to do. I have worked to represent my constituents, voting on policy issues that I believe would benefit our nation and opposing those that would do us harm. I have helped those having problems with federal agencies and advocating for those who have fallen through the cracks of bureaucracy. This is what I will continue to do, these efforts will not stop, and I am not going anywhere.

“The actions of the Justice Department speak for themselves. It is a sad state of affairs when those entrusted with upholding the law have no appreciation for following the rule of law. Consider this; overwhelming evidence indicated that Hillary Clinton took direct action to circumvent investigations into her campaign, she was interviewed and no action was taken. After two years of investigation into my campaign, I have never been interviewed and they made a decision to prosecute.

“Additionally, three prosecutors, two of which are directly involved this case, attended a fundraising event at a private home in La Jolla in 2015, one of which was the individual who signed the indictment. We know these individuals attended this event from 9:00-12:00 noon during working hours. We are told that this was at the request of Secret Service to officially assist law enforcement with protection, but this explanation is disputed by former U.S. Attorneys familiar with the responsibilities of their office. The obvious question is why would the Secret Service need three prosecutors at a fundraising event? The answer is they are partisan prosecutors.

“My constituents are not easily misled. I know they can recognize a political agenda when they see it and they can disregard empty rhetoric when they hear it. I fought for our nation against terrorists in the Marine Corps. I fight for my constituents in the halls of Congress. I will fight this in the same manner and with the same level of determination because I believe in what I am fighting for and still have faith that evidence and the rule of law will trump political agendas and bias.”

Is that grift or graft?

Darrell Issa accuses US attorney of "political misconduct" over Duncan Hunter indictment
"I believe that the assistant U.S. attorney has totally screwed us….I believe that this is political misconduct by the assistant U.S. attorney, and I believe it simply because all deadlines, as far as I know, as far as I've been told, have passed," Issa said. "So now you have an accusation that could sink anyone, when in fact, this same information…I didn't see anything that hasn't been there for years." (It's not clear whether Issa was referring to a different federal prosecutor in the Southern District of California or to Braverman.)

He accused Braverman of holding back the indictment since last year, if not longer.

"I don't know how you make any kind of sense other than he sat on it for most of three years and certainly the last year," Issa said. "As far as I know, we've got no legal way for Duncan to get off the ballot and somebody else to get on. As far as I know that's where we stand."

Hunter has said he'll keep running for his seat. He had been expected to win re-election easily, and in the primary, he won 48 percent of the vote. Campa-Najjar was a distant runner-up, with 17 percent. While Donald Trump won Hunter's district by 15 points in 2016, Campa-Najjar has been mounting a financial challenge, raising more money than Hunter, according to the most recent Federal Election Commission filing.

The sheer amount of personal responsibility is overwhelming

I'm more familiar with his district than I would like to be -- would be shocked if he lost, despite all this news. His dem opponent has a foreign sounding name and most of the district is pure Trump country (it's where all the derps live in the boonies to avoid the out of control coastal libs in the city). There was a Politico article not too long ago, basically saying how its an open secret in Washington that Duncan is a complete boozer who cheats on his wife, which is actually a positive to GOP voters these days.

His district avoids the coast like the plague. Labeled R+11 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Califo...ional_district

Rep. Duncan Hunter pleads not guilty, claims indictment 'politically motivated'
Bail was set at $15,000 for the congressman and at $10,000 for his wife after they entered their pleas in federal court.

Can they pay that bail with campaign funds? LOL

Looks like he's going to have to amend his narrative about this being a Democratic political hit job and turn it into an establishment/deep state hit job.

I mean, it's either that or, "Low IQ liberal hack Paul Ryan is coming after me along with the Democratic DOJ in a total witch hunt!"

His supporters would never fall for Paul Ryan being a liberal.

Spoiler:
Just kidding. He can pretty much say whatever the **** he wants, and he'll probably still win his district. The only thing that could keep him from serving in Congress is literally being in jail or being expelled.
08-23-2018 , 04:44 PM
I can't wait for this guy to be under investigation, probably going to jail, having no power in Congress to represent his constituents because he has no committee assignments due to said investigation...

...and inland San Diego County deplorables re-elect him anyway!
08-23-2018 , 05:01 PM
But did he ever use a personal email account?
