Are Conservatives Preparing for Violence? Are Conservatives Preparing for Violence?

02-18-2009 , 09:30 PM
The New York Post publishes a racist cartoon dipicting a dead Obama as a chimp.

Glen Beck is having a national 'meeting' on March 13th, where 'like minded people' can discuss 'what to do' about Obama. He reminds his audience "They don't surround us, WE surround THEM!"

Comments on a recent story of Obama at Ford's theatre reflect the wishes that Obama be shot like Lincoln was...with Michelle sitting on his lap so she can take the bullet too.

A man was just arrested in Washington with a gun, claiming he was going to 'give Obama a message."

I've heard people say things like "When Obama's assassinated..."

Is this extreme sour grapes over the GOP's loss of power, which they see as a 'god' given right?

Is this the beginnings of deep seated racism that can't be held back any longer?

Either way, are we looking at the start of an armed conservative insurrection?

The imagery in this line is a little confused. How can something deep-seated be just beginning? And if it is, how can it have already been held back so long that it makes sense to say it can't be held back any longer?

Also, it should be "Are these the beginnings of..." 'Subject-verb agreement' ftw!

Please change title to "are a few racists preparing for violence?"

Honestly, stereotyping a group based on a few people's actions and words isn't much better than racism IMO.

Also, there are a many different types of conservatives.

Frankly, all the stuff you listed is pretty typical. From both sides too.

This post is pretty nonsensical. Following Sarah Palin's nomination, one could could just as easily have said liberals are planning on aborting all the babies in Alaska or some nonsense like that.

Here is the cartoon OP is talking about, btw:

I just watched a discussion on Campbell Brown about race, in which two prominent points were:
1) We are indeed 'cowards' about racial issues.
2) ZOMG THAT CARTOON IS OFFENSIVE

lol?

It says VASTLY more about the OP that he looks at that cartoon and thinks that's supposed to be Obama as a dead chimp rather than realizing the stimulus bill could have been written by a chimp than it does about anything else.

blutarski, do you really believe the New York Post cartoonist meant that dead chimp as Obama? I am guessing he was referring to a group of monkeys writing the bill because it contained so much. Isn't there an old joke about monkeys along those lines? Something like, "this could have been written by a group of monkeys."

BTW, when Glenn Beck talks about what we can do about Obama, why do you assume he means full scale violent revolution? There isn't a slim chance he means what is the best way political opponents can fight back via blocking bills and preparing to win future elections? No shot that is what he meant?

Have people not heard about the berzerk chip that mauled a lady and had to be killed by cops? Come on people, a little context please.

For the record according to blufish;

if the corruption continues at the current pace, and the move towards bigger and bigger government continues, which results in less and less personal liberty, then what is wrong with turning violent????

FWIW I thought this thread was going to be about the way that guns and ammo are absolutely FLYING off the shelves; there's a gun bubble right now. Dealers can't keep them in stock.

Funny you mention that, I was at the target range last week and went in the gun shop to buy some 9mm target ammo when the manager asked if he could show my Beretta to a patron in the store at the time, he had sold out. At $700 a pop he was more surprised about it than I was.

I thought the left-wing paranoia about stuff like this was going to end when Bush didn't lead a coup to hold onto power.

Yeah this is also interesting considering the fact that ammo prices have gone up like 300% and its not slowing anyone down.

John Titor was right and this worldline is just a few years behind his?

I have a Yale graduate standard liberal friend who is seriously considering buying a gun in the next few months.

Or they tied together cops killing a monkey and the fact that the stimulus bill is ******ed.

1. Cartoon of chimp being shot
2. ???????
3. Conservatives planning to kill Obama
02-19-2009 , 01:04 AM
I will say however that with the way this country is headed I really wouldn't be very surprised if there is an assassination and it would be really horrible for our country because everyone will be crying racism.

There is also a "Beware of Dog" sign, clearly this is a reference to Michelle how dispicable...

Seriously though, what a subtle genius inclusion in the cartoon, imo.
