He's definitely a narcissist. I am not a huge fan personally but I wouldn't say his comedy sucks, he just has a very wide range. Lots of peaks, lots of valleys.

while we're getting unpopular opinions off our chest, GoT season 7 was terrible. It's nothing but a bunch of fanservice and michael bay-esque CGI explosions.

The only good thing was [REDACTED] bluffing twice in the finale and getting snapped off both times.

I agree with all of this. I blame George RR Martin for being lazy and takin forever to write the story, and allowing the TV guys to run with it.

And also the TV guys for exposing themselves as trash writers

I like that their commitment to deus ex machinas extended to giving a deus ex machina to the bad guys

I don't think it's laziness, he's already rewritten the book 5 times. The problem is that there are too many threads that can't physically be wrapped up without the teleportation and time dilation tricks that the show uses.

GRRM managed to "solve" his Meereenese knot by having dany piss about in essos for 5 years for no adequately explainable reason. He's clearly committed to not cheating which is admirable but I think connecting every story in a satisfying way is completely impossible for even the most talented writer. Physics doesn't allow it.

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, but I was an avid fan of the books before the show was ever announced, and have been a big fan of the show.

It is patently obvious where the show out-raced the books. Even with the author pretty much telling them what's going to happen, it's amazing the difference in the quality of the show. The dialogue and pacing has been destroyed.

It feels like the opposite of the walking dead. They took a 4 or 5 season show and ****ed it up by milking that bad boy for all it's worth. Game of Thrones somehow decided a winning formula would be to take their massively popular show and wrap up the plot ASAP at the expense of....well.....everything else.

Maybe there was never another way this could end. Perfect series are rare. It just feels like they are rushing us to the finish line with this thing.

Apparently it takes 10 years to write good, idk.

Meh, I don't see how GoT ends up any other way. Eventually all the **** that made it great would have to stop making any sense. Plot twists and political intrigue always had to eventually take a back seat to magic, dragons, and zombies. I've quit trying to watch the show asap so I don't get spoiled. I don't care anymore because there really isn't anything left to spoil. It's a straight forward zombie apocalypse show now.

This group is totally capable of making a nuanced and complex television show about the world if the confederacy had won, tho

Thanks to the flooding in Houston, I now know that this is a thing that exists in the world:

Shell, one of the largest producers in the Gulf of Mexico, said it had closed two offshore production platforms, Perdido and Enchilada Salsa, and had evacuated most of the workers.

I estimate there is a very good chance that show doesn't get picked up, derivative concept and poorly timed with real world events

This would be hilarious, given how excited they were to announce it.

Why would you make that show when Man in a High Castle just came out?

I'll also note that Clovis got banned for mentioning awfal's trumpiness in a GoT thread here. The projection is pure; apparently they need safe spaces even when discussing the teevees.

Don't bring politics AIDS into the rest of the forum.

Does Mensch have a show or something like Alex Jones? Seems like she's grifting somehow, but idk how she's cashing in on her shtick. Maybe she really does believe her own nonsense.

Yeah, I know of and agree with the rule, I just thought the specific replies from Shoe, awfal, and campfireaids were kinda funny.

Very good article on the "Lost Cause"/states rights interpretation of the Civil War, including recent scholarship.
