I guess sponsored ads can now attack people? (who probably deserve it but still)

Edit: I guess it's an ad for a class action lawsuit.

In college I almost too a job on campus for $2.83 an hour (again some kind of loophole) - starting at 6am and doing hard stuff like landscaping.

Luckily I found a job at a convenience store instead.

I do want to go, and I might end up doing so, but if I don't is that a dick move from me?
No because you don’t not get a proper invite and a last minute three hour trip is no good.

If this person is one of your best friends though, you drop, everything and go.

Right but like, remember, Katie Porter is a congresswoman because she unseated Mimi Walters, so should we really give even the smallest **** about something like this?

Yeah this story has become straight up bizarre, wtf is wrong with people
04-13-2019 , 09:01 PM
Its not bizarre, its common. "Good" men being surprised by things like this is still aggravating. Women aren't surprised. Get with the program.
04-13-2019 , 09:06 PM
And the heartbeat laws do effectively ban abortion. They're doing this intentionally with the goal to overturn Roe v Wade. Same with the law in Texas that puts the death penalty on the table for women who get abortions- NO exceptions for rape or incest.

Bitches be trippin' tho.

No, this is generally surprising to me. Appears there is something uniquely sexist about computer science-y type guys who spend a lot of time on internet.

I’ve been involved in research in neuroscience/addictions and for example the director of that whole branch of NIH is a woman as are several of the top most prominent researchers in the field. There is zero percent chance a bunch of male colleagues in addictions research would have a similar online response to a woman making a breakthrough in our field.

The male gender is collectively that TA in Good Will Hunting
04-13-2019 , 09:40 PM
If you look hard enough, you'll find some pretty sexist attitudes even outside of computer science-y type guys who spend a lot of time on internet.

Sorry, meant in academia which tends to attract a more liberal sample than general population

I'm sure the gamer gaters are just as ticked about Steve Jobs getting all the credit for Apple when he didn't program crap. What the hell man?

Just rename this forum "not all men". So exhausting.

Maybe make your points in threads other than the low content thread?
04-13-2019 , 09:53 PM
I was responding to points made in this thread.
04-13-2019 , 09:56 PM
Fair enough, my bad.

idk about “unique” but IIRC it’s pretty well documented that CS has a disproportionate amount of this crap as compared to other fields.
04-13-2019 , 10:14 PM

I’m coming to this late. It seems your taking a nihilistic approach that all men are inherently going to be horribly sexist and that’s end of story. I’m saying maybe the math and computer science fields need to look around to other branches of science where women are not treated this poorly. Not saying things are as good as they need to be, but the above posted story would not happen in addictions related neuroscience research community.
04-13-2019 , 10:20 PM
Based on my father and three brothers I think all men treat women like queens.
