I was wondering where Foghorn Lawhon had gone.

Will The Senate Expel Roy Moore If He's Elected?

After reading this:

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics...ulsion/546263/

the answer to that question is probably a resounding "No!" (Oh well, it will be great fun watching Roy Moore and Mitch McConnell coming to [verbal] blows on the Senate floor.)

I'm glad you'll be amused, but I don't think it will be great fun having a deplorable pedophile in the Senate. Definitely don't think it will be such great fun for women who were abused as children to see an abuser failing up to one of the highest offices in the land. Also probably not much fun for LGBT or non-Christian Americans, whose rights Moore will continually strive to restrict.

Somebody should bet on the percentage of white women Moore will win. Over 50% ldo, but over 65%? Wish I could somehow see specifically the voting of white mothers of 12-20 year old daughters, just for the masochism of seeing that number also over 50%.
11-19-2017 , 05:04 PM
It’s bet under 55% for white women for sure and it could be under 50%. Moore is only getting around 38% of likely women voters, of which I’m guessing 75% plus are white.
11-19-2017 , 06:09 PM
ecriture, where did you come up with the 38% figure? If it's a recent poll, I'd take a heavy dose of response bias salt with that.
11-19-2017 , 08:10 PM
I sorta doubt that. I did cherry pick that poll, but even the ones that don't show as much of a drop for Moore (Moore @ 48%) look to be inconsistent with white women at 55%. Unless you want to say that Moore has been a victim response bias from the start, which you can, but quickly becomes poll trutherism. White women at 65% looks better than any poll even pre scandal.
11-19-2017 , 08:34 PM
You're saying 55% of white women BEFORE the pedo revelations? If so, that is shocking. Donald Trump won 53% of white women nationally. How the hell was Roy Moore only pulling the same amount IN ALABAMA?

Having discovered this terrible problem, Republicans will go after Social Security and Medicare with a vengeance while simultaneously failing to utter a single word about the tax cuts that created the problem in the first place.

This is the GOP's back door plan for shrinking Government. They "create" an artificial budget crisis by intentionally manufacturing a massive revenue shortfall. In trying to kill Obamacare, Republicans discovered that proposing significant spending cuts is politically difficult - if not impossible. Paul Ryan and the GOP's wet dream has been to devise some way of cutting taxes, (and popular social programs like Medicare and Social Security), simultaneously. If you can't do both simultaneously, you do the former first and the latter will surely follow. It's ingenious. (Ayn Rand would be proud!)

It's a variation of the 2008 financial crisis. Put a collective gun to the American peoples' head, (i.e. create a "financial/debt crisis" and insist that something must be done as we can't let the banks fail), then force taxpayers to bail out Wall Street with something called TARP. In the present context, tax cuts for the rich and privileged will be financed by slashing social programs.

Democratic leaders need to get a lot more aggressive in explaining to American voters the GOP's game plan and what's likely to happen [to them] if Republicans get their tax cuts. In fact, they should be running ads pointing out the likely budgetary consequences of massive tax cutting. (It's no accident that Republicans are running ads gushing about how great things will be once they get their tax cuts.) Some of those Democratic ads should point out what has happened in [Republican] Kansas with Governor Brownback's tax cutting. Kansas is not exactly a shining example of trickle down prosperity and exploding economic growth.
Fly: The GOP thinks they can shrink the government by starving the beast. I can explain TARP if you are interested. Democrats should persuade deplorables using attack ads and fake fake news.

When I registered my original 2+2 account approximately 10-12 years ago, I registered under my current moniker: Former DJ. I used "Former DJ" up until (2010 - 2013?) or whenever the 2+2 web site was hacked. (I don't recall whether the mods and/or Mason asked all of us to re-register and change our passwords in the aftermath of the hack, but I believe that was the case, so I re-registered and used my actual name - Alan C. Lawhon - as I didn't see any point in hiding behind an alias.) I don't give a fig whether people on here know my actual name or not - I'm not a Russian spy working for the KGB. I like using "Former DJ" as I was a radio station disc jockey back in the 1970's, so I chose that moniker when I originally registered on 2+2. At the time of the hack, I assumed the account attached to "Former DJ" was deleted by the System Administrator and "went away" once I re-registered under my actual name.

Once I re-registered under my actual name, I continued posting until I ran up well over 2,000 posts. Approximately 12-18 months ago, (not sure of the exact date), my "Alan C. Lawhon" account mysteriously disappeared. I don't know what happened, but one day I logged on to 2+2 to discover that username "Alan C. Lawhon" was gone and username "Former DJ" was back. To the best of my knowledge I didn't make the change - I don't know how it happened. One day I'm posting under my actual name, the next day I'm suddenly "Former DJ" again. How this change occurred I have no idea, but, to the best of my knowledge, it wasn't due to any action on my part - or any action that I'm aware of.

This doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I don't care whether I post under my actual name or Former DJ, so I decided not to make a federal case out of this and raise a big stink with the mods. The only person on here who gets their panties in a twist seems to be you. Whatever the case, I'm not intentionally attempting to break site terms and conditions or violate any 2+2 rules - that I'm aware of. (I have received one infraction from a mod for something I did years ago, but that's the only "No No" that I'm aware of.) If I'm guilty of using a "gimmick" of some sort, (or violating site Terms & Conditions), I'm confident the mods and/or Mason will straighten me out. (To this point, I've had no communication or PM from a mod concerning my account, alleged use of a "gimmick" - or any other violation. The only person I'm aware of that is accusing me of using a "gimmick" appears to be you.)

From this point forward, I'll be grateful if you ignore my posts, avoid commenting on my posts, and restrain yourself from attempting to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I'll do likewise with respect to your posts.

It boils down to "Roy Moore kinda sucks" even to some people you wouldnt expect. He was on the ballot in AL when Romney was running for president. Romney got 61%, Moore got 52%. Even before the sex scandal there was evidence for a decent sized "straight R except Roy Moore" AL voter in actual elections, not just polling.

I know he's a heathen Mormon and all, but damn, 61% seems crazy low for Alabama.

Trump, McCain and Bush (twice) all got less than 63%.

Gonna be hard for an R to get more than that when 25% of the electorate is Black.

Many states have solutions to that. Trump won thanks in part to 1.1 million mostly minority voters being purged from the rolls by Cross-Check (real example: Maria Inez Hernandez wasn't allowed to vote because Maria Isabel Hernandez already voted). But you won't hear about that on cable news, only RUSSIAAAAA

Roy and his clan think he is Trump 2.0. If Orange got away with it then Roy can too. They are a funny little bunch of folks. I really don’t see how they straight up elect a child molester but it’s gonna be interesting. The media needs to be pushing the deviant nature of the man and not downplay it like they have been trying to do for pg rated news. Repeat after me Jake Tapper: Child Molester.

Governor Kay Ivey: You Condone It, You Own It

http://www.al.com/opinion/index.ssf/...art_river_home

If Roy Moore loses on December 12th, especially if he loses by a greater margin than the polls are indicating, Kay Ivey's political gambit of vocally backing Moore could backfire. If exit polls show women voting in large numbers for Doug Jones, those same women may be equally inclined to vote against Governor Ivey next year. I'm not sure about this, but so far I haven't heard any of Governor Ivey's prospective (or announced) GOP opponents declaring that they are also supporting Moore. They're leaving Kay out there on a limb all by herself.

Worth noting here that Gloria Aldred was born in Philadelphia and has lived and practiced in Los Angeles since the 1960s. Wonder what made Roy Moore call her a "New York attorney." Mysterious, really.
