Seems like it should be a slightly bigger story that Mike Pence tweeted out congrats to McSally before a single precinct had reported.

DeSantis is like even money to call him the n-word at a debate lol.

I’m pretty sure that he didn’t mean it that way. Of course I have no idea how dumb you have to be to use that term when you’re referring to a person who is black. I think it speaks more to stupidity than anything. This reminds me of a recent conversation I had with my boss at work when I asked her what the point of job interviews are since any good candidate is going to lie to you about a high amount of things. She said we know that’s the case. The point of the interviews is to see who is dumb enough not to lie and say the stupid things that indicates they are going to be a bad employee.

1 - how many times have you heard someone use the term "monkey this up" in any context?
2 - Is there any record of Desantis using that term before?
3 - Do people running for state office tend to be carful when "articulating" their message on ****ing TV?
4 - what kind of reaction would you expect from prospective Desantis voters?

The dumbass's camp gave Obama credit for the Florida economy.

Vile and racist, but smart move by DeSantis. His racist supporters (a lot of his base) will laugh and love it, the left will go nuts, and the "moderates" and low information voters will have the BMOL response and think the Democrats are crazy and pulling **** out of thin air to attack him.

600K jump from 2014 is huge even if the population is growing.

Keep in mind that those are figures from the Florida Division of Elections and are all actually within the margin of error.

If the Trump pussy gate incident didn’t move the needle even a bit on a nationwide election I’m pretty sure at this point nothing moves things on any candidate for a smaller state based election outside of the person dying or going to prison. Both sides are polarized so much the only thing that moves is the independent vote and it’s usually a late decider that you can’t really gauge how various developments throughout a campaign change it . This is why I’m convinced even a person who has a hard criminal background can probably win an election if they’re up against the right candidate. I don’t expect DeSantis comment nor Gillum’s supposed crimes to have any impact on the result of this election at all.

In the runoff elections on Tuesday night, pro-Trump Tulsa businessman Kevin Stitt defeated Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett to win the GOP nomination. He will now face off against former Democratic state attorney general Drew Edmondson, who already won the nomination in June — which is shaping up to be a truly competitive race.

Republicans blew a huge potential advantage by not nominating Cornett, who has campaign experience and is known for bringing the NBA to his state. Stitt, by contrast, has never held elected office, faces questions about his mortgage company’s business practices, and said he opposes the badly-needed recent pay increases that ended the state’s teacher walkouts.

Edmondson, by contrast, is the Democrats’ dream candidate — a Vietnam veteran who has already won statewide office multiple times and has decent name recognition. One*poll*released in July showed Edmondson leading the race by one point with Stitt as the nominee.

Soon literally every Democratic candidate will be a veteran.

Oh interesting, the more progressive candidate (afaik) won the Democratic governor’s nomination here in AZ. Not sure how good of a shot he’s got against Ducey but at least he’s more interesting than the other candidate.

Spoiler:
He’s also a veteran

Apropos of nothing, Gillum had 46k followers when I went to bed last night, up to 150k today. DeRacist has the same 26k he had yesterday.

The apologizing for deSantis is just so tiring from Ben Shapiro and that ilk.

A final word<thread> on the "monkey up" idiom:

Dunno why--she won by a solid margin and they have better internal polls than dems do.

I don't know whether DeSantis will gain or lose votes with the monkey stuff, he did increase variance though, he pretty much had it in the bag vs a socialist in florida.

Sanders looks younger than he is and Trump is a fat slob.

The socialism stuff doesn't work so well when Sanders points out that real wages are stagnant and the 1% owns everything.

One time please.

No way in a mid term year is anything involving the party in power in the bag. We saw some shocking gubernatorial wins in 1994, 2010, and 2014. They often don’t win a second term but the best I saw him polling among any source was a 6 point gap. Most were 3-4
