Yoo gave a speech at GULC that I went to and it was one of the more troubling sets of takes I've ever heard from a plainly hyperintelligent person. The kind of thing where for a moment you wonder if you're just not that bright, he is, and you aren't getting it.

But then you reflect for a while and realize no, it's not that, it's that he's smart enough to convince himself that the ends do justify the means and to contort all rationality to that end.

Scary because it was real.

Waited an hour in line on a vacation day to vote against Fascism. Ohio voting is well underway.

For poll junkies, there's a new Arizona poll by some unknown pollster called Data Orbital which wasn't included in RCPs feed of new polls. It's Oct 11-12, so post second debate.

Spoiler:
Clinton +1

From the BOLD PREDICTIONS thread, me, circa May 4th:

Actually the map in Trolly's OP looks quite likely to be exactly correct. Both of us got put in our places though:

Unfotunately, looks like Georgia is stubbornly Trump. A very large (1400 LV) poll there post second debate. Trump +6. Qualifies as good news for him these days.

Interesting that 538 has Arizona 51% Dem and Upshot has it 83% GOP. Upshot is missing two pro-Clinton polls for some reason. Probably MEDIA BIAS.

I got my absentee ballot in the mail today. Ohio voting is underway after I play a few hands of poker and have a beer or two.

Obama and every president to follow has/will murder(ed) people, some of which will be completely innocent and simply in the wrong place, but torture... that's just too far.

Fwiw, I am against torture.

Voted today in California for the first time since moving here. HRC for the win.

What ballot initiatives, though! Yes to condoms for porn movies and no to weed.
10-14-2016 , 10:35 PM
Condoms in porn? Nah. They'll just move to a place where they don't need them.

Either that or amateur porn is gonna become way more popular.

It didn’t take long for multiple producers on the show to begin frantically attempting—in vain—to get the former real-estate mogul to stop calling Lil Jon an “Uncle Tom.” According to two sources from different departments on the production (speaking on the condition of anonymity due to strict*non-disclosure agreements), one reason producers were freaked out was that comedian and talk-show host*Arsenio Hall*(who is also black) was a guest star on that episode, and had heard Trump refer to Lil Jon in the derogatory way.

Hall made his displeasure with the use of the term clear, and staff sprang into damage control.

Kind of amazing that he was supposedly doing it in ignorance but still wouldn't say anything else.

That is very much the kind of thing my father-in-law (a likely Trump voter) does. He'll have a vague understanding that he's doing something offensive, but not really get it, and keep doing it purely because it's bothering people. Like "look how important and smug I am, I don't even care enough to stop doing this thing that bothers you...and I don't really even understand why it bothers you!"

Got my ballot today in Illinois. It looks like Clinton is a mortal-lock to win here as expected. Can I safely vote for Stein in that case? I really don't want to vote for Clinton. I thought I could but I've had my ballot in front of me now for a half hour after filling the rest of it out and I just can't fill this final bubble.

Should I just wait until it gets closer to November 8th in case something unexpected happens that would make Clinton need my vote in Illinois?

If Illinois is in play Clinton is already losing in a landslide. That said you should vote for Clinton.

Glad to see more progressives are hopping on the rap lyrics thing.

Ann Coulter, the right-wing provocateur who has emerged as one of Trump's most vocal defenders, deflected when asked by BuzzFeed News about his response to his accusers.

"Should Trump stay on the issues? Yeah, sure, if only the media would allow him to," Coulter said. "As for any fainting over Trump's 'potty talk,' I await Michelle Obama's apology to the American people for saying that Jay Z and Beyoncé are role models for little girls."

Personal preference. Not a big fan of drugs, even relatively benign ones. Medical use is fine.

Great point. I'm writing in GHW Bush this November. I'm sure the rest of the thread will follow suit. It's settled, so no need to post here ever again.

Last edited by AllTheCheese; 10-14-2016 at 11:08 PM. Reason: And with all that experience, GHWB is voting for Clinton. I wonder why.

Illinois is among the most mortal of Clinton locks, vote for whoever you want.

Have you guys seen where Conservatives like Ben Shapiro give lectures in California at super liberal schools. Do you see how those kids protest and become violent because of a guest speaker? You guys actually condone that?

Free speech in this country is gone and its a joke
That has little to do with free speech. There's a whole thread about this.
