If you are interested in comparing your numbers to his or asking him questions he is posting his daily numbers at http://offshoregamblersdigest.com/index.php?&
in the advanced handicapping forum under the nickname Reagan.

You will have to register to enter the forum and the rumor is that it will be moving to a subscription basis soon. Kinda neat for free though.

Interesting; thank you. His book was quite enlightening, even if he got a bunch of things wrong and left a ton of typos in there.

Giving a bullpen a xERA of 2.00 or whatever stat he uses, not using log5... I'm sure there are other issues I'm ignoring.

his win % method seems fine to me after a quick glance. it seems to share the same properties as LOG5, while being perhaps a little more lengthy.

I didn't study it in depth and have no clue whether it spits out the same numbers, reasonable numbers or even ones that are off in left field. I looked at all the goobly ****... Looked at what he was doing... and then asked someone competent and everything basically lined up to "His math isn't good."

Solve by inspection here.

Murray's book is great for the guy that has never bet baseball or doesn't know what can affect the lines.

You should not, however, expect to win a great deal of money using the math in the book. Typos aside, creating models that can beat the market is very tough to do.

Quantifying sports stats/important factors and creating probability models is going to put you into a deep level of math that most will never understand.

I wonder what are the rules for free advertising (spamming?) on two plus two.

I don't know 2p2 terms but from the FAQ:

# Part IV: The 2+2 Sports Betting Forum

What are the guidelines for posting in this forum?
# Absolutely no spam, period. This is rule A, B, and C for this forum. This means no advertisements for tout services and the like. Anything falling into this category will be deleted on sight.

Not sure why you asked that in this thread in particular, but when you've been around a while you'll realise that some people post useful stuff on this site and that when they post a link to something topical it's not assumed to be spam at first glance.

hth, I realise OOT or wherever you hang out probably doesn't work that way.

How am I spamming by posting link to a currently free site with which I have NO affiliation?

Murray's book has generated quite a bit of discussion here in the past and more and more people here seem to be using models for their baseball betting. I thought some of those people might enjoy comparing their numbers to his and possibly interacting with him to improve those models. FOR FREE.

Yeah, the spam comments were kinda lol.

This is orders of magnitude below the threshold. And is on par with me reccing Buchdalh's book.

Well, I've been "around" and if there's a forum where it's difficult to realize useful stuff is THIS one, so, sorry to offend the big shots over here. It's more easy (at least for me) to identify useful stuff on HSMTT, HSNL, SMP, EDF or the software forum. Those are the ones I usually read (I also read Politics, but mostly for amusement purposes) and to be honest SB offers pretty little beyond basic stuff.

Anyway, I'm sure Mason M and 2p2 don't want the site to be inundated with "useful" information; obviously links to all kind of poker sites who offer bonus are good for the people here, right?. Or links (wit "useful" stuff of course) to Cardrunners, PokerXFactor and other training sites are good for the forum, but most of this sites pay for advertizing. Well, to be honest PXF gets a lot of free advertizing on MTT, they're pretty clever to do it.

Well, if I'm just not aware of all the revolutionary knowledge the site suggested by the OP has contributed to this community, my apologies in advance. If that's the case, take this bump as an apology

Nobody mentioned revolutionary knowledge, they just mentioned that it wasn't spam. kdog and the likes were fighting spam on this site before you even began to "get around" so please go back to trolling your usual forums and learning nonbasic stuff in EDF and SMP.

Edit: There's not a single advert at the site linked, no affiliate link and a warning the guy might turn tout, that's about as un-spammy as you can get.

This is far less spammy than someone saying "Buy my book, the info is in there." or a third party saying "buy his book the info is in there".

The whole issue is pretty ridiculous.

He's even taken it to ATF, I wish these timewasters would pick on the 8,023,423 trolls we have here rather than one of the good posters one time.
