Matchbook.

Edit: And to be clear, the closing line on 5dimes was 195. Just a suggestion, if you want to take the over go over to wagerline and check out the public consensus betting. If most people are going under, the line will most likely be dropping and you can get a better line later.

Alright now that Ive calmed down a bit... had no right to call you a liar.

For that, I apologize.

Would you recommend getting into the betting exchange stuff?

Apparently the juice tastes better and the lines are easier to chop up.

Im signing up with matchbook right now...

can I offer you a referral bonus?

I think the other people on here would be able to give better advice on this. The exchanges aren't as convenient as the normal books, but I think you can pretty consistently get the same line with no juice. Often, you can put in the consensus line at +105 and someone will take the other side. However, if you're relying on getting early lines, you can run into problems finding a match. Closer to game time the market is pretty good.

From now on whenever I hit a bet, we will all watch a music video of my choice, all of them paying tribute to this great state of california.

I cant even remember the last time I lost a bet that wasnt by either one point or a half point.

On a separate, more optimistic note, I seem to have these second half totals down.

Maybe I should just stick to these for a little bit.

TBAB,

The Lakers +4 today comes to mind. Your FAN IQ stats or whatever it is say you can't beat spreads. Don't bet them.
03-16-2008 , 08:31 PM
It says Im around 50% over a course of like 4,000 of them.

It doesnt say I cant bet them, either.

I should be shot for admitting this, but no, I did not know Gasol was out, honestly.
03-16-2008 , 08:43 PM
Wasn't it 51% or something?

So over 4,000 bets, if you were actually good enough to beat 52.4%, the odds of only hitting 51% or less is:

3.6%

Don't bet spreads if you aren't line shopping.

i have no idea how you could possibly calculate such a thing...

over 4000 wagers im 51% and that means I cant win in the short run betting straight sides?

forgive me if the logic in this is somehow eluding me.
03-16-2008 , 09:01 PM
Binomial distributions - wiki it.

If you were in fact a 52.4% straight bettor, over a 4,000 game sample size, the odds are 3.6% you would only hit 51% or fewer of your bets. Basically, you're probably not good enough at spreads to cover the vig (aren't a >52.4% spread picker).

Math just says you in all liklihood will not beat spreads if you keep gambling. A monkey and a dartboard can win in the short run over the vig.

Could one adopt the foregoing strategy without the use of said monkey?
