Hey guys,

I have posted in this fourm on and off for the last few years I have been betting Football and Baseball for the better part of the last 10 years. Ive found an edge in those sports some of witch i can thank some of u for. This year I have decided to try and start learning the NBA I have bet games here and there and have had mixed results but I dont have any type of edge and I'm confident that I am down overall. I think a good way of learning for me would be to post the games i bet on and the ideas behind the bets I make. It also would make it easier to keep track of my record and help me find out if my ideas are woking or not. I'm on twitter and may ask a few guys who's opion I respect to post here to try and get some basic strat on how capping the NBA should start on a basic level. I am also looking for any advice for the community on how u guys have learned and what u think is good prep work. Again I am going into this with the knowledge that I may lose and that some of the strat is use may be way off but I'm hoping that you guys will help me with this.

Thinking the line here is infalted based on the public perception of Den. both teams are playing really well and i think catching 10.5 is good in this spot. UT won easily at home vs. Nets Sat and should come out playing well early. The Jazz have not had much sucess on the road so far this year but I belive two of their three road losses were in the first 4 game vs. LA and the Spurs they have caught fire since.

Spurs -8
Nash and Hill could miss this game w/ quad issues Nash also is being bothered by sore back. And the two game where nash was out they have had trouble defending the PG position both Williams and Irving had good games vs the suns recently. I think Parker should have a solid game and the spurs continue winning at home even with out Manu.


Last game Den/Jazz under 206 Two good Defensive teams. Den will be rested witch I assume means they will be better on the defensive end. And Utah's staple is their defense they are holding teams under 90 points so far this month. I dont bet many totals but i think this is a good spot.

Was +5.5 Don't have much faith in the Wiz but more or less fading Hou McHale said he is looking for a spot to rest Lowry and Martin and Hou plays Det at home tomorrow.

Cle +2.5 Char is also on a 4 games in 5 nights dea. these two teams seam to be going in opposite directions. K Walker seems to be moving into the starting role and there should be some growing pains.

Leaning on the under for the Buck/76ers game 187.

also leaning Mem +4 also at 4.5 in some spots. I think they'll be ready to play after the 40 point beating they took last time vs the Bulls but I think the line may move up closer to game time.

If either of my leans turn into plays I will update before game time. GL today guys

Char +12 Both teams are coming off b2b Char had a really bad 4qt last night they were leading the game vs. Cle with 2 min left but gave up a 9-0 to lose. Orlando is starting a 3 game Home stand and has Spurs and lakers coming to town next. I fell like this could be a look ahead spot for Magic and looking for better late game from Char

Utah -4 La is n the mddle of a b2b2b run they are with holding Paul from this game and Utah is a really strong home team thus far feel like this line should be more like 7 or 8

Den/Mil U 198.5 Den coming off bad loss @ home George Carl said they were over confident in that game I think he is a really good coach and i think they will be ready to play. Mil has played really well at home and a big part of that has to do with their team defense on their home floor. IMO this will be a hard fought game and that means on the defensive end.

Leaning SA +7 I may b way off here but I felt like the points looked better with Wade playing on a bum ankle. He is out and SA is on the first night of a b2b a spot they seemed toplay well ats in. seems like the square pla here everyone hears that wade is out and jumped on SA but based on how MIA played eariler this year when both Wade and James sat out I'm not as sure i like the spot. I loved this earlyer today but no that I read my notes I made a really good caes for the other side. I may be over thinking this game I may revisit this later.

NY -2.5 Really like this game vs the suns who have been having a rough time on the defensive end. Knicks should be able to get back on track

Nets +2.5 Gs on 2nd night of b2b nets are 0-4 at home but their losses are vs ATLx2 MIA and Indy all clearly better teams ill try the home dog here

ATL -2 Camby is not expected to play tonight witch will hurt blazers on D. blazers have not played well on the road Atl is quitly playing as one of the best in the NBA

Clips +2.5 this game is a lean as I dont have a line on it yet but that is the number listed on 5 dimes. teams this year have played well ats on the end of b2b2b LA rested starters in 4th of bad loss last night. Paul is questionable but i like the home dog here. I will most likley be betting this when it comes out. If i dont bet this game for what ever reason ill post itt

really not sure for the season I'm fairly sure I am down before the thread started i was not betting the same amount on every game. since i started posting/taking it more serious I have been betting the same amount on every game if i had to guess I'm down in the neighborhood 3 to 4 units. I can look if u guys want.

Also to be clear the line on the nets was -2.5 not +2.5 I was confused this morning

and the knicks were -8 I was in a bit of a rush thos morning and messed these up

3-1 last night the funny part is I felt the strongest about the knicks yeaterday. They really under proformed I'm really supprised by how badly they have been playing.

only lean is Jazz -2.5 but Dallas coming off 2 last second losses may come to play tonight. I think its too hard to gauge how they'll play and the line seems a little short so I'll watch.

Picks for 1-20

Philly -6 I think that philly is better team over all and the recent winning streak for ATL has been for the most part vs. teams with sub .500 records. They came really close to blowing a 14 point lead in the 4th vs. Portland the other night.

Phx +7 Nash has been playing well as of late and I think the Boston has some real problems. Rondo who has been without question their best player hurt his wrist vs. TOR it may be a factor tonight.

GSW +3 GS coming home after a good road trip getting points at home vs. the pacers who have had troble late in games on the road I feel like the Pacers are a good team but going thru a bit of a rough patch. Also i think the line is a bit off ill take the points at home.

What does 'taking a lump' actually mean/involve?

it's a term for taking a beating. Witch I think is a real possibility for me based on the fact that this is the first time I've ever bet the NBA for a full season.

But I know that you have posted alot about the NBA in the past if you wouldnt mind could u post some insight/advice for new comers like myself that are learnging the game.

Any input would be great thanks
