Jones has it ***** all, he can fight at distance, close range, get takedowns vs olympic caliber wrestlers, clinch and rest when winning. The size advantage he has helps a bit too, just so hard to get in and land punches vs him.

Absolutely. His skills are on par with the very best in nearly all aspects of MMA. What allows him to win is the size/reach.

Great fight, probably the second closest anyone's come to beating Jones... it makes Gustafsson's performance even more impressive given he was going to win the fight until the elbow at the end of r4.

Can't wait to bet Gustafsson over Rumble now, we will not be denied a rematch to 2014's fight of the year.

Don't know exactly how I ended up but it'll be up or down less than a unit.

cormier looked gassed in rounds 4-5.

Gusta or rumble vs bones will be gr8 regardless of who wins.

I think jones beats cain as well.

So who does Cormier fight from here? I doubt he can make 185 to fight Weidman and he won't go back to HW while Cain is champ (although I assume he will if Werdum wins the belt)

Beat 2-3 contenders and try and get another shot at Jones I guess. Probably make most sense for him to fight the Gustafsson/Rumble loser while the winner gets Jones for the belt.

He's good as an announcer for fox sports 1, he probably retires, the guy is 35 & he will only get slower etc from here.

Jones looked gassed in the 2nd and Cormier gassed in the 3rd, but gassed Jones >> gassed Cormier

I hope they make the Jones/Cain superfight (if cain still holds the belt) after the Gustafsson/Rumble winner. After this performance i'm starting to believe Jones can win that fight (especially if it's at a catchweight of 220 or whatever)

Depends if he wants to get paid, I mean he's still clearing six figures a fight and while he probably won't be champ, he can earn one more title shot with 2-3 wins which let's face it he should get (I can't see anyone except Jones and maybe Gustafsson beating him at LHW). Probably depends how much money he has, if he wants to make another couple mill he can fight another year and a half or so, work his way back to another title shot and then retire if he loses a rematch to Jones (or whoever the champ is)

Rematch might be interesting if DC basically abandons spending energy on takedowns and just tries to mix it up on the feet. He was actually doing just fine before he gassed.

^^^ Bro did you really just state that rumble has no shot at beating DC?, rumble could potentially beat them all. I think it's close between all 4 of them tbh. Difference is DC is out of his prime athletically n by the time he gets another shot he is like 37 or so & he won't be the same. Time to hang it up imo.

retirement is certainly out of the question, i feel pretty certain he will stay at lhw and go for another shot at jon for some years more

That's probably his best game plan.

As for Jones obv. he will have to fight Gus or Johnson next... if he defends I think the UFC should offer him more money to fight as a HW as the LHW will start to look like the flyweight/HW division where no one really thinks a challenger has a chance in hell which is bad for business.

Jones fighting 1-2 times as a HW before fighting Cain makes good business sense. Or Weidman steps up to the plate at lhw... which I think is a bad move from his perspective as there is a ton of MW's to give him a go.

I'll snap take DC against Rumble for any fight that happens in next 12 mths at -150 if you want

Rumble is good, but his best win is Phil Davis. I don't think he beats any of Jones/Gustafsson/Cormier. I don't think he'd beat Machida either if he was still at LHW and i'm skeptical he can even beat past his prime Evans.

If he beats Gustafsson he'll make me a believer

so I had a prop bet with Cormier (+4.5 points) at 5Dimes and it was graded a loss, why? If all 3 judges had it 49-46?

two judges gave cormier r2 and one gave him r3

I had it 2-2 going into the 5th but Was very ok with the final scorecards.

Great main event, props to Jon he has beaten the who is who of his division and continues to evolve.

Wow Cardo Urso gave Jones the 2nd. that's pretty bad.

Impressive? I thought they both looked awful. Both fighters seemed gassed in the second round.

The fight seemed like it would go the distance in the middle of the second round, and I really hate fights like that.

I think as someone else stated, that gassed jones > gassed DC

I am not as good as judging fights as other people on this forum, but I honestly thought DC might and I stress might (because I could have gone either way) have won the first 3 rounds (but they were very close).

dc never ever ever wins 1 or 3.

cerrone saved my card, was down then went huge on him when the line dipped to -120 and below. was gonna bet big on jury if it got to +200. Profitable card but could have gone pretty south for me if cerrone didnt win.
