Hello fellow 2+2ers,

I am new and figured I would break things in with a thread on boxing. From what I have gathered from the forums thus far is that boxing is not super popular. I feel that boxing has a bad rep amongst the general public when it comes to betting due to the fact that at one point it was probably the biggest money sport in the world, and some may have taken advantage of the opportunity to fix fights and what not, think ( Tyson v Buster Douglas ). Anyways, I hope this thread turns into a "pick'em" thread, but opinions are welcome.

As of right now I have Mayweather over Pac, picked it up at -200 and at +100 (private bet with a not so sophisticated Pacman lover). Im looking into buying some of Anthony Dirrell at -550 (steep I know, but will review to see if its +EV, believe it is). James Kirkland vs Canelo Alvarez is another one I am reviewing. Javier Fortuna vs Brian Vasquez as well.

When I say "reviewing", I mean watch a decent amount of tape on each fighter until I feel confident in a pick, if I do not feel confident I do not bet. One thing about wagering on boxing is that there is not a large number of fights to pick from on the regular, but if one is patient and selective it can be fruitful.

I want to keep track of my sports bets. I just started betting small for fun to see where it takes me and so far I am running good. I will post all my sports bets here and see how I do.

So far my bets have been:

Julio Cesar Chavez JR vs Andrzej Fonfara, I picked andrzej
Matthysse vs. Provodnikov, I picked Matthysse
Game 1 Clippers-1 Vs San Antonio +1, I picked the Lakers

bet 10 bucks on each one, doing this for fun really.

My up coming picks are:

Game 2 Clippers Vs San Antonio, Picking San Antonio
Mayweather Vs Pac, Picking Mayweather
Canelo Vs James Kirkland, Picking Canelo

So yeah that's all I got, Never really sports bet before. Wish me luck.

The odds for Tyson v Douglas were something like 40-1, and Tyson was under Don King management. So I am not sure if I am being trolled on this thread but I enjoy any comments haha

I also picked Fonfara and Matthysse.. Picking Mayweather as well. I mostly bet boxing but I also trade picks with a group. I have a guy that picks NHL only, he ran like Jesus, Buddah and Usain Bolt all in one. I like Canelo also, but its a bit close. Im very picky about my picks, but when I decide on one I bet rather large. (my bankroll allows for this). Anyways, keep up the good picks, and remember that the most important thing is bankroll management. Also, if you do not like any bets on a certain day, dont bet.

BTW I just joined yesterday so I'm post happy right now haha

So Don King told his cash cow to go lay down and didn't even bet the underdog down very much??

04-21-2015 , 01:31 PM
haha you guys are cool. Don King for sure bet Tyson at 40 to 1 and then told him to lay down. Duh, thats what everyone would do right? This should be called twoplustroll.com haha

I didn't click on the thread bc I value my time, but if this thread is not something you value, why not just defer from posting? Is it because you are afraid to post something with a real opinion? Or maybe, the picture of the special needs kid is the only thing that comes to your little mind. Figures lol

i knew these guys in college who were bookies. They caught the attention of the local mob who wanted them out. They decided to make one last bet with the mob over a boxing match and if they lost they would leave the area. I forget who the two fighters were, but lets say they told the mob they wanted Boxer A. What they did then was sell everything they owned, drained all their bank accounts, etc. and went to all the other local bookies (who were mob controlled) and bet money on Boxer B.

So while they had to retire they essentially bankrupt the mob in the process. And the mob actually paid!

The whole point is I agree, that boxing is suspect.

are we still printing money blindly using zig zag theory or is it time for a little zag zig theory if you know what i mean rsigley

Zig Zag is dead. The NBA cleaned things up to appease their new DFS sponsors.

Poker players' inborn superior traits make them sooooo good at DFS.

Any know of a way to get the live lines history for an NBA playoff game? Anyone know if the Bulls were ever +3 -105 or thereabouts during the 3 quarter?
04-26-2015 , 01:15 AM
I was semi-watching the ML and it almost had to be, was bouncing between +150 and -150 for either side from the middle of the 2nd q through at least then I think.

last lines I know for sure were +150 with ~3:20 left in 2nd and +120 about a minute later. admittedly I missed some of the 3rd q but that line looks right in the entire window of the 3rd q...

Srs question: where do you get tape in this day and age?
