Same as we have done the past 2 years here AllenJ,capping it and wagering. This is my 1 time of year i go much larger than i normally do,because its the BC for gods sake, and there are going to be tons of favorable odds to be had in my opinion. I have saved 5k for the last 2 BC's,didnt wager all of it either time, but allow myself that option, and i was very successful last year with Zenyatta and Man of Iron. The BC is my christmas!

Walk, that is some funny sh_t there you posted,LOL...Hope it goes better than that for ya.

I put $150 in the TS pool (that's good for 1/1000th of the pool) lol.. at least I'll be able to sweat large pick 6 and pick 4 tickets BOTH DAYS.

Also, I'll be dipping into the pick 4 pools on my own. They will be large enough that I'll pass on the pick 6 pools and donate.. err.. i mean "invest" more into the pick 4's.

I'll probably be imbibing Chimay Blue as well, feeling festive.

Agree, and Disagree with ya FT. There are plenty easier spots for profit yes,but in my opinion the BC can be capped as any other race day.

For me its the BC,and as a fan yes i could very easily just watch,i do this often, but to be honest i dont care about the $$,i want to be part of it and take my shot. Last year i forgott for at least 2 hours after the race that i WON 3k on Big Z,was just so excited. My first horse bet i ever made was for 10k,and i forgott i won money till my wife asked me 15 minutes after the race "how much did WE win". Horse racing means something different to everyone i think,$$$ being the primary meaning to most,i am aware i am in the minority because i really dont care about the $$,i just like trying to hit the PK6's and PK4's on big days like this, and this is the biggest.

I have never even heard of any of your beers Kev,with my kidneys acting a fool as they have here lately, maybe i should throw a stout at them and give them a reason to act up huh ....My body accepts the 'green" alot better, but that became a PITA to get,so for the last yr i dont even bother with that. As for your named mugs, tell me those were a gift please

I am soooooo ready for next Friday,as my friend ML would say "Let's get it on"

Disagree completely about there being "better spots than the Breeders Cup".

On a single-race basis, sure, there are usually better spots. But how often do you get the chance to bet on world-class animals at huge prices? I had a horse in last year's BC Juvenuile Turf @ 35/1, or somewhere around there. He didn't win, unfortunately, but you see where i'm going with that. Throw in all the head-to-matchups that are available on the assorted races, and there are lots of good opportunities. And don't forget about future wagering. It's not so great anymore, as the prices are generally low-balled beyond belief (thanks Avello), but there are some good ones that occasionally fall thru the cracks. I'm a big fan of the Breeders Cup. It beats the hell out of the Derby, that's for sure.

I see your point DC and i see FT's,to me i love the BC and everything about it like yourself, and i know there are prices to be had in a lot of different avenues futures etc for the BC,but there are easier spots in certain circumstances in my opinion. Like you said they are ALL world class animals, and it takes a lot of preperation throughout the yr to decifer between the lines which will win or perform at a championship level on that day,and it takes some luck for sure. Maybe im not explaining it well but i think sometimes with the euro invaders and the caliber of every animal in the field its a sob to be right because there are so many right answers. Hell the BC Classic you can make a realistic case for 1/2 the field easy. Just saying i absolutley love the BC but it can be a tough spot imo.

Zenyatta....

I am posting my thoughts now because i have a busy week ahead of capping,so i can donate along with everyone else into the big pools.

She,to me,is the greatest race horse that has ever raced. Secretariat gave the single greatest performance in winning the Belmont, maybe as dominant a performance as any single athlete in any sport imo,and is the greatest colt to have ever raced. Big Z has so much about her that just captivates me,from the way she dances before the race,to her breath taking come from last to first finishes. Most of all more than anything, she makes me feel so alive! I was in tears last year i was so excited, and it had nothing to do with money.

To see an athlete do what she did,i mean, forget about it. When TD said "What a performance, one we will never forget!" it was like he was talking in tongues to me,it was such a soulful experience to myself. I have been touched by horses so much in the last few years and she is such a big reason. I dont have her mugs,or posters,or figurines bs,i have never been to her website, everything she has made me feel is in my heart.

You wont ever hear her say she is taking her talents to Churchill Downs and have her own ESPN special,or hear her say she needs more money,a bigger contract,or anything else these human athletes cry about, this is why horses are so special to me. She gets fed,and does her job,i can relate to and respect that. A human athlete making multi million dollars per year i can not relate to,or would ever want to. The connections to her,or any horse for that matter have a lot of hard working people in the barn, stalls, and elsewhere i can relate to.

Back to Zenyatta... I have no idea if she will win the Classic, absolutely none. I will be wagering on her,and hoping she does, but she doesnt have a damn thing left to prove to me. Win or lose,i know for a fact she will give her best effort every single time, and that is all you should expect out of a professional athlete. I remember a saying from Joe Dimaggio once said about always giving your best performance, because it might be the first time a fan has saw you play,or something to that effect, and that is still alive in Zenyatta. I wish that were alive today in human athletes, but it is a very rare thing. So much anymore you see a team down by 8 with 20 sec left in the game have the ball and walk up the court and dribble out the clock, are you kidding me. Not with her,she is a true professional.

I love her for how she has made me feel over the past 3 years, its hard for me to put into words, its just so amazing to me,and host everything i love about horse racing. I dont care what happens in the classic, just do your dance, shake that big black butt of yours girl, and get home safe! Thank You Zenyatta for showing the world what a true professional athlete is.

Ya it paid 5/6 but man coming out of the turn and down the stretch I was jumping all over the place god I thought I had it then the 3 lit up and caught him. I have been alive to singles in the 6th leg twice in my life - both times lost and my horse was 2nd in a close race.

Ya CD,been there several times myself, and sometimes you have to laugh so you dont pull your hair out. On KY Oaks day this year,i posted my PK6 ticket here, and went 5/6,lost out by RA getting beat in the 1st leg for around roughly $60k it would of paid. My ticket was about $450 if i remember right and got back 800 and change for the 5/6....This game is a sob sometimes, but i love the ride. Dust yourself off,and get back in the saddle my friend, and see you on BC day.

excited to watch Jersey Town in the #9 at belmont. This colt is owned by a gentleman that lives in Vancouver, but owns stables back east. He actually had Jersey Town race at Hastings a bit last year (in the BC Derby for instance) and at EMD this year. His last two results are 2nd in a g3 (at EMD to Noosa Beach) and 3rd in a g2 (at Belmont to Tizway and Cool Coal Man).

He drew the outside gate, but being out of Speightstown(sp?) he definately has the early speed to make a move to get to the rail.

What impressed me with the g2, Is he led from the start, and then it looked like he might fade out of contention down the stretch until he found a second wind.

LOL!! She is a slow horse and anyone who bet her last year oint he BC is a fool. Yes she won and bea t a bad field. I lost that race and I still agree whole heartedly with Andy Beyer she is a great filly and does not belong int he panteon and I do not believe you are a winning capper if you bet Zenyatta at that price last year. Greatest horse ever. great article for you. I read this post once a year to hear some people make quirky uneducated remarks baout horse racing but this is hysterical. What aperformance she beat the worst field of BC horses ever on her home track. LOL!!!

19-0 with the majority of her races being graded (14 grade 1), I thought grade/group 1 races were as good as you could enter? I think their needs to be a distinction between, a slow horse, and a horse that always wins. Some horses are slow, but a horse that always wins it is hard to tell if it is slow or not, because once you are comfortably in the lead why push the horse? The Jockey certainly doesnt think Zenyatta has ever been fully pushed.
