But racing does not need 24-7 exposure to survive.
NFL is basically Sundays only and its gambling fan base is huge.
Racing has always been very conservative and still remains that way. Racing needs a more progressive business model or it will die a slow gradual death.
Racing needs to better understand and develop what customers want and expect from racing in the context of ever-increasing competition for the entertainment dollar. This should be the top priority.
Appreciate the response LW and i would like to offer some additional thinking maybe. The sport right now IS a 24/7 product and because it is i do not understand and i do not think it does the sport any favors not to offer an A track each day. I can get down on a track 24/7 but on 2 days the tracks are all C,D etc.
Talking to a person on Night School on Tuesday and like myself they consider their days off as Mon,Tue each week when obv they are running at C tracks. I think they along with myself would prefer the option of an A each day and with the ADW being their top money maker because it sure as heck is not on track attendance outside a weekend date. I am of the opinion you would not saturate the market because each track offers something different.
NFL a good example as they have added a Thur to the schedule because the base screamed for it and the players hate it but it makes the league $$ so they are deaf to players ears. They are also looking to expand to England with 1-2 teams in near future. Might not be a more popular sport going but i can not stand it because it has got so damn soft i just listen to them on the radio.
Lots of ideas and horse racing is sitting on a ton of good ones with old thinking and it just frustrates me. Glad they got us exchange wagering going though after saying we would oh 4 plus now
TS on the clock i know this. Outside of PP's what do you offer that can compete with your competition atm? Need to get HD Video up and have it going asap because it is night and day between the 2 and when the physicality of a horse is a key determining factor in a wager and structure it helps a ton. Tick tock.
