It will always be my opinion and it was before the Derby, if Velazquez or at least Castellano rode this horse he was your triple crown winner. No disrespect to IHA or Mario but this horse is special. He does not like to be inside horses yet today he still got it done.

On a side note **** Ramon Dominguez!!!

This is why I am thrilled horse racing is pari-mutual wagering. LOL after he just won a 1 1/2 race. See you at The Travers!!! Being a BIG horse racing guy I'm sure you heard of it.

Hopefully you young guys realize that Secretariat would have won by more than thirty lengths.

Given the times and the way the field looked it would've been more than 40. IHA definitely would've shipped the triple crown if he ran.

lol.

this years time was faster than the last 2 years. obviously the track is a lot different than it was in 1973.

Secretariat also would have crushed Seattle Slew, Affirmed and AP Indy.

Last time I checked, Secretariat is currently six feet under ground. Hard to win a race when you are dead and buried.

id even bet he dont hit the board but since bodie running them off there feet all rags has to do is sit 3 behind who tries to run with bodie and clean the slop up so 2nd or 3rd no problem

The track variant when Big Red ran 2:24 was basically all time high for Belmont. 5 track records had been set in the 3 weeks prior to the 1973 running. But IMO nobody was beating Secretariat that day. Slew's race was in the mud, and Affirmed's early fractions were beyond slow, so taking times from those races is not really fair. Slew was probably faster up to 1 1/8, and with an honest pace at 1 1/2 I'd favor a horse like Prove Out in his prime, who could run forever and fast when he was right.

roger clemens - yes, that is pretty much my point. comparing the time of that race in 1973 to the 1 saturday is very lol for a number of reasons.

I doubt any arguments would lead to him winning by fewer than 20. The point is that, unlike human sports, the athletes aren't getting better.

Well, Secretariat won the Belmont by 31 lengths. It was one of the best performances in American sports history. I don't think anyone is confusing Union Rags for Secretariat. I'm sure he would have beaten the field soundly on saturday.

Comparing 2 races at the same distance, run at the same track, on the same day can be challenging. Never mind 39 years apart. The landscape of horse racing has changed and the track runs different today than 1973.

But yes Secretariat would have disposed of Paynter like he did Sham and Union Rags would have been battling for 2nd.

Of course. 1957 was the best crop ever. But I can name 5 Belmont winners since then who would win by 15+.

Affirmed
Seattle Slew
Risen Star
Point Given
Easy Goer

Hollywood time!! late pick 3 today has value

race 6- the 2 faves are a combined 0-32, looking to play against them (tiz victorious and swiss emperor) using 8 11 12 13

race 7- again value in playing against the chalk, #1 porifido fits with the numbers, but he is 0/15 on the hollywood turf. Do not want as the fave. #11 Danderak looks like the lone speed, , looking at 2 horses who ran big races last time, # 2 clearance clarence and # 7 Diamond Duchess. Prefer them to the same old faces at this level ( porfido, falcon rock) using # 2 5 7 11

race 8- 5f Mdn claiming 50k, looks to be a crapshoot, using # 2 Valley spirit, has every angle in the world going for him, 1x lasix, Blnk on, dropping from MSW, and first off layoff, also using #4 Scherer magic, hard to look past that bullet work he turned in recently

Hollywood race 6 $1 pick3 8 11 12 13/2 5 7 11/ 24 = $32
Best of luck guys !!

looking at it now:

r5) 9, 4
r6) 13, 4, 3, 11
r7) 3, 4, 6
r8) 5,6, 13, 12, 9

generally I really like early speed on these nite cards, going to watch the tote in r8, love the ped and the works on the 6 (20-1 ml).

good luck!
