-1/2 is bascially the moneyline
-1 means if the team wins by 1 it's a push, they need to win by more than 1 for you to win the bet

oh and if it's both combined it means half of it counts as -1/2 and half of it counts as a -1 bet.

-1 is a push if they win by one, a win if by two or more and a loss if they lose or draw..

-0.75 = half the bet on the -0.5 and half the bet on -1..so if you back -0.75 and they win 1:0 ---> you win half of the bet (-0.5) and get refunded on the other half (-1).

It is the same with Asian Totals lines..Over 2.25 goals = Half the bet on over 2 and half the bet on over 2.5...so if finishes 3:0 you win both bets (full win) ---> if 2:0 you lose half the bet (over 2.5) and get refunded half (over 2).

In addition: there are formulas to equate Asian Handicaps to 1X2 prices...so if a team are 1.08 you should know what Asian handicap they are..i can pm you something although it is fairly well known..

Thanks, knew what -1 for a game and -1/2 for a game separately meant, but combined that was confusing the hell out of me.

Hi i have a question. I would like to bet 2k on Spain winning the World Cup 2010. What would be the best way to do this?
Options are for example:
- Make an account on unibet and deposit. It is a bookie so im def paying too much for the bet.
- Make an account on betfair and deposit (dont even know if that is possible if you are from the Netherlands). They charge 5% and take 1.5% of your deposit.
- Try to find someone to bet with on this forum and have a reliable guy be the escrow. Seems like the best option but it may be hard to find someone willing to lose 10k+ on this bet.
Thnx

P.S. Thoughts on Spain winning the World Cup are also appreciated.

If:

- You don't know where to back something like this
- Need to ask for people's thoughts on it

You probably shouldn't be putting 2k on something (unless you're rich and don't gaf about the money...)

+1
Although, Betfair should take your money with open arms, and any reputable online book. A bit lost with what you mean by............

Bwin, Bet365 will take it and you'll get a decent enough line price. 2k bet with any of these should be no problem. GL.

What i mean is that Betfair makes matches while Unibet takes bets, so i should get a better price at Betfair. So Betfair doesnt take the money, they just get 5% of every match they make. I made an account but i cant seem to deposit because i am from the Netherlands. Am i doing something wrong?
I just want to make the world cup a little exciting preferrably without the hassle of getting money on a gambling site.

Victor,

Not sure why Betfair won't accept Netherlands players. But anyway all the major sports sites are offering 5 as the price for Spain. Betfair has 5.2. That's actually the same price as 5, since that extra 0.2 will be taken from you in commission. The 5% commission isn't taken on matched bets, it's taken from the winner's net profit. On bets like this (a fairly long-odds popular line which has to be priced competitively) Betfair will never have better prices than normal sports betting sites.

Just sign up to a reasonably large sports betting site and bet it there. There's a list of sites offering the bet here. (Note that when it says "4" for the odds, it really means "4 to 1", i.e. 5 in European odds. You can confirm this by checking the line on the site. I was having trouble finding the line on bet365 btw so make sure you can find the line on a site before signing up). Getting money on one of those sites wouldn't be any more of a hassle than getting it on Betfair surely?

Betfair rarely has better prices than normal sports betting sites on such popular high-volume lines, because the market is very competitive so the juice is down around the 5% mark anyway.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to type all of that out, great response. I dunno about them not accepting Netherlands players but i cant seem to do it, eventhough i have deposited in the past.

5.2 from Betfair with %5 com. is actually worse than 5 with a bookie........not much worse but still.
Pinnacle has Spain @ 5.05

I have been using http://www.oddschecker.com bet basket to decide which Bookmaker to place my football accumulators.

Is there any other sites that are better?

Nice bet for tomoro.

Swiss Challenge League
Le Mont LS Vs Thun
Thun to win @ 1.89

Thun are sitting on a 5-1-2 record for away from home, whilst Le Mont are 3-1-5 for their home record.

For a near evens bet, this is a bit of a steal IMO

chessterfish, in the random football discussion thread there are posts about that game. It looks like its fixed for a 1-1 draw. I bet the draw, not the 1-1 because I think the correct score market is going to get scratched.

Fancy Luka Modric to have a big game for Tottenham today. Stoke let opposing teams have too much possession. I think Modric will find an opening if given a chance. Anyone know where I can get man of match odds?
