Yes it was my idea in regards to the brian L thread because it was getting way out of hand, you seem to have trouble finding the right balance of when to clamp down and when to let go.
it has been mentioned before, but sometimes it does seem like you have multiple mod personalities. one day you are trolling the next day you are all nice. If you go back and re-read Brian's thread you will notice.
One post, you are nice to BrianL saying something like "KEEP WINNING" and telling the trolls to keep quite
the next day you are making fun of him and joining the other trolls.

the last 2-3 days , you have decided to clamp down which you should have done when brian's thread was getting out of hand but now its a bit too late.
you seem to have trouble detecting some sarcasm and finding the right balance of when to let it go and when to enforce yourself.

again, cant you just walk away and let matt sklansky find someone else to fill in? I can ask someone else to fill in

Perf was perfect and his reign here was when the most respected posters to ever come through here were trolling/arguing/discussing quality content at will however they pleased, but it looks like he and those days are gone forever There are deserved qualification issues that it looks like Bob will always get picked on about, but I look at it as......WE COULD ALWAYS HAVE NISS

"I'll post a couple of picks per night that have an expected ROI of greater than -2.2% in the 2012 MLB Thread along with some narrative fallacies if it will help people get over the loss of BrianL." ≠ Trolling

He's referencing BrianL and the expected ROI of his picks along w/ the write-ups that Chronic slurped, not saying he's going to provide false picks. Cmon Bob, it's all about context

wiper - perf did not let everything fly. he just didn't.

BrianL was being quite weird and braggy and over-sensitive about one guy saying, "hey, lets bet." But why do you keep bringing up the Brian thing anyway? Kind of a boring topic, isn't it? He was being really weird in several different spots. I could quote my posts and his posts in here but that would really side-track thing. Why bother? Why do you keep bringing this up?

Regardless, he doesn't need to be all "sir" about it. Just approach me in a manner that is better than the worst NVG troll does when I mod over there. It's not hard.

I don't get called worthless and clueless in other forums or by anyone else (for the most part). I'm sorry you think it's okay to dispute a decision by saying, "you are worthless and clueless and you suck and blah blah blah" but it just isn't. Not in here and not anywhere.

People keep talking about how the tone has always been that way in SB. Well, that's simply not true. It was not as nasty back then as it later became. It just wasn't. Not between regulars and not towards idiots.

Yes. I understand that now. And I understood he was making fun of Brian. At no point did he say his picks were genuine so at one point I misunderstood.

Iowa! could say it to be EXACTLY like that and it would be fine. And there are no handcuffs on him to post right now his picks if he wants. I haven't stopped him from doing so...especially now that I understand he wasn't throwing out random picks in his attempt to make fun of Brian.

Again, it's not a sin to misunderstand something. Different mods in other forums do so ALL the time. I'm flexible. I'll change decisions. Obviously he's free to post his picks in the MLB thread now. So that's up to him.

BrianL is likely to lose going forward, but he is better than a coin flipper so providing picks with a higher ROI than his would require some effort. Once again, this is something you would have known if you had the first clue about sports betting.

It was obviously fine for you to seek clarification on this matter via PM but deleting posts that were potentially valuable and at worst, harmless, before you had it was out of line.

bold #2: me? i don't think i did that. i'd have to reread the pm, but keeping it private i felt like it was okay to speak my feelings.

Re: April - June LC Thread: Good old country hardball

naj - Thanks for the support.

All - Yes, I'm listening. Just want to make sure that is understood because I do know that in my defense of my position on here it can come off as stubborn and that maybe I'm just blowing off everyone's opinions. There are some people here whose opinions I really respect. Iowa! is one of them (for example) in spite of the name-calling.

I might have a couple of posters work kind of with me, without being greened (because they don't want to), to just use as sounding-board or something like that. I'm PM'ing with a couple right now. I'm honestly not sure how much that will help with these types of issues because, as I said, I do think half the forum thinks one way and half the other. But we'll see.

And anyone who wants to help or contribute in pretty much any way possible is welcome to do so.

Stickies need some updating, don't they? Anyone up for that challenge? Probably could add some additional content too (or change it around some?? not sure)

wiper - We were talking about Iowa!'s tone. It's the topic you brought up. I was kind of addressing a few of your different points from your post and I skipped from the Brian thing to your observation when you told me he shouldn't have to be "all mister" about it because that's not how this forum is. I was saying that it's not okay for him to come at me with the "worthless, clueless" stuff.

It was obviously fine for you to seek clarification on this matter via PM but deleting posts that were potentially valuable and at worst, harmless, before you had it was out of line.

What clarification would I have gotten? The first thing you said was that you weren't going to respond to that at all (until you saw the deletions).

Action wasn't that out of line considering my misunderstanding of the situation. Just respond and say, "hey, they weren't actually troll-picks. These are sincere attempts to provide winners to the community. So I would appreciate it if you undeleted them. You REALLY misread that situation and it kind of ticked me off to be honest."

See, you can even tell me that you're bothered by it and the whole thing can be a quick exchange, I undelete them, and we move on.

Obviously, at that time, I didn't think clarification seeking was necessary. I saw what to me were trolly posts and instead of asking, "hey, were these trolly posts?" I took action.

When I see what I believe to be "sure thing" trolls I don't ask the poster "is this a troll?" There are other times when I'm not sure in which case I might ask (or not do anything and let it play out....easily my most common strat).

So here I thought it wasn't even a borderline thing. And it turned out I misunderstood. I don't see how that's "out of line" really. It's just my misunderstanding of it. Although I guess that's a bit of a semantics thing.

Why not? When it comes to modding this sub-forum that's exactly what you are. You don't add value in any way, shape, or form and often subtract it by deleting posts that don't need to be deleted and locking threads that don't need to be locked.

That being said, I don't think we stand to gain anything from your removal, so I certainly will not be lobbying for it myself.

I don;'t have a problem with you calling out my math skills or whatever cause people are hell of alot better then me at both line shopping, and statistics. But to say I will lose going forward? Says who? Nobody said I could keep up my current pace and I've just continued to add winnings.

At what point do you realize that capping sports is not like poker... it is not solved in any way, and its all about picking the winners. Mathamatical equations are perfect for some things, but when it comes to picking winners... its not.

You haven't even posted a pick on here since February... Who are you to criticize me, or even say I'm going to lose going forward?

Yea your bodog props thread for mcnugget money was the best thread around here in years...

I pile on people that deserve it. They run their mouth except they post incorrect information.

Easy way to mod this forum:::

1. If someone posts blatant spam to touts, affiliate links, or blogs, delete it.

2. If someone is spamming with 40 posts in a row being disruptive, delete them.

Otherwise let it be.

That's it.

You close bad a high % of the time vs. a pretty efficient market. What other conclusion is there?

I think maybe he means 66% is unrealistic long term. I hope he's wrong, because I'm stepping out hard on your plays. I have a feeling you will make 30u profit this season without breaking much of a sweat, and probably even more.

Remember that scene in Analyze This. Bobby D, says to the shrink. "you, your good you, you got the gift my friend"

I would suggest leaving this forum entirely. We need you in the proper frame of mind

I actually do think that's what I mostly do...most of the time anyway.

I throw out a few reminders about tone every once in awhile because, I guess, that's my thing somewhat. And I think that harder trolling and personal insults need to be reigned in a little bit.

In this case, I also addressed some posts that I thought were trolly but I was wrong.

Others think I should crack down HARDER than I do on tone, insults and also the dumber of the posters on here. And they argue that I should be doing MORE than I currently am, not less. Certainly an interesting balancing act.

Did you not read the thread?

I was told to post all my picks on Pinnacle's # at the time of my post.

I make many different bets at different sportsbooks at different times.

Today... At the time I posted, I posted Rangers/Sox Over 9 at +102.... I bet it at Over 8.5 on Heritage this morning, before I had time to post my official plays for the day.

What you had for #'s were so different then what I actually bet that you have no idea what I got vs. an efficient #.

But besides that... You have this notion that you can't beat the books without beating the #... Some people know how to cap games... some people don't have a clue, but rely solely on arbing. I know everything there is know about capping an MLB game, and its why I have been so successful over the years despite not always having the best lines available.

No. I think he will lose $ going forward over the long run if he doesn't improve. I went out of my way to point this out in the other thread so that people wouldn't lose money following him. Apparently this makes me a bad guy.

No, that is not what he means. He does not believe BrianL to be a winning bettor at all...and certainly not as much as Brian says he is.

But according to Brian, Iowa is 11-12-1 of late...so I guess Iowa's observation becomes irrelevant because of that.

Seriously, Brian, I've warned you about really bad sample-size nonsense as evidence one way or another in your attempt to argue your point. When you say that you sound like an idiot. Your goal on here should be to sound like less of an idiot.

I'm guessing nobody else is able to say that. I didn't even think that was possible to be honest.

I'm glad you have curtailed the exaggerating as per my previous suggestion.
