Standard double barrel? Standard double barrel?

08-04-2010 , 10:09 AM
100BB's effective
Villain is decent, I would say capable of semi bluffs.
Image is somewhat aggressive, but nothing too out of line as of late.

Hero is UTG+1 and dealt QJ
Villain is Button.

Preflop (3)
Utg folds, Hero raises to 6, Co folds, Villain calls 6, Sb folds, Bb folds.

Flop (15)
689
Hero bets 12.50, Villain calls 12.50.

Turn (40)
J
Hero?

Do you like a double barrel on this turn or a check/call? Does everyone cb the flop? Thanks in advance.

i pretty much always c/f this flop, even with a gutter and overs because decent villain's will be ***** around with us too much on this board. as played i think the turn is a standard c/c.

I don't like a cbet on this flop, but I think you need to 2barrel given the value you get from draws and 9x/8x hands. I'd plan on vbetting nearly half of rivers.

I'd b/f around 30. Villain would usually raise 2pairs and sets on the flop, so I'd discount those a bit. It's also really unlikely that he already has a straight because I doubt he calls T7/75 preflop. So his range is mostly hands like 76/87/T9/JT/ and maybe flush draws that will call another bet. Also a big part of this range will check back on the turn, so that's even more reason to bet yourself.

Whether or not to cbet on the flop depends a bit on villain. I'd usually b/f because you have decent equity against his calling range and there's quite a few other hands I'd give up with on this flop. Another option would be to go for a c/r. If villain 3b he'll usually have a pretty strong made hand or draw and you have an easy fold. If he checks back, that's fine as well, cause you can either hit your hand or credibly represent any card J or higher. You can also bluff at a 5 or T cause you could've checked a hand like 87/76/T9.

If you double barrel, the river gets interesting imo. But I'm too lazy to go through possible river cards and actions...

Lol no worries.... thanks for the input so far. I think I like bet/folding the flop unless the villain tends to raise connected flops like this, and I don't have that read.
The thing that is tough, is the J hits on turn and we double barrel... if raised?
