page 2 bump

got my haircut today and me and the lady talked for a while. she asked what i do since i'm not in school and don't live with my parents. i went with "online marketing" followed up with "it's kind of confusing to explain but i've made decent enough money that's why i took 2 yrs off from school out of highschool". i pulled it off decently enough but i was sooo tempted to double barrel and leave a big tip to make it convincing.

also speaking of tipping.... tipping at restaurants is ridiculous. both of my roommates work at a restaurant and i hear stories all the time about getting ridiculous tips or them complaining about a big party not tipping a lot. i've worked with my dad doing landscaping for $8/hr. my roommates make up to $200 a day working less hours at a more reasonable time of day and half the time they're watching whatever sports games is on the tv. seems easier than poker imo

Your opinion is laughably bad in this case.

Also, comparing any job to landscaping for $8/hr will make that job look good.

I did both those jobs the summer after my senior year of highschool because I was worried I wouldn't be able to afford school, and I definitely made more in 20 hours a week of waiting tables than in 40 hours a week of landscaping for $8/hr. I would have just worked waiting tables, but hours were hard to come by because we were all high school kids making >$20/hr, and everyone wanted as many hours as possible.

Waiting tables is probably one of the most lucrative jobs the average high school or college student can get until they're qualified for a well paid internship or post-graduate job.

they work at BJ's restaurant which seems to have a higher ratio of attractive to non attractive girls working and eating there than other restaurants, if that matters

i play poker for a living in case it wasnt clear

there's a huge stigma against it and ppl immediately think you're delusional about your gambling problem
03-26-2010 , 03:45 AM
Clearly you should worry if someone who cuts hair for living is an idiot....

I've had mostly positive experiences explaining my profession, including the FBI lady I talked to today.
03-26-2010 , 03:46 AM
i dunno. people i've met have been generally more interested than negative... i suppose if someone's family member had serious gambling issues it'd be hard for them to see it in a positive light

well she was asian so maybe the correct play is to tell her. if you want everyone elses opinion/stories check out this huge thread on why people don't tell others they play poker

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/54...lay-poker-308/

i'd have no problem telling someone i play poker for a living if i had enough time to explain it or i thought they were intelligent enough to understand. i unfortunately never hangout with intelligent people irl. also i play ssnl and make enough to get by not some msnl guy playing CC roulette and asking the regs what car i should buy

95% of the people in that thread are clearly socially incompetent. I've never had any problems when I told people I've played poker for a living - it's by far a positive, not a negative.

I want to beat my laptop right now. For some reason, it won't recognize my ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 (and I don't think it ever has tbh).

I'm running Win 7 64bit and have tried everything including ATi Drivers, Lenovo Drivers, etc. For some reason tho - if I uninstall from the device manager, and then click 'check for new hardware' it auto installs whatever gay driver it has been using and won't even let me specify my last resort random internet driver.

HALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LLLLLLLLP!!!!!

Solved somehow............don't ask me what I did, but my lappy will now run both my Dell 30 and Samsung 20 together. Time to get a drive bay and throw my desktop in the ocean.

Well, you also don't live in the US (right?), where the average person is under the impression that playing online poker is illegal.
