Surprised that you have these experiences and are Finnish. Pretty huge stigma here about drugs, even weed is considered something you wouldn't even discuss in public usually (not even with young people if you don't know them well) and is still pretty strictly criminalized.

I don't know maybe I'm oldfashioned and lame, but I would never do any drug other than weed. It's just a line I think I don't want to cross, and am scared what it could lead into - also I have never really had any desire to experiment there. And i'm not a prude by any means. I'm not even that sure can recreational use with other stuff than weed really work without seriously messing things up.

But well to each their own like Ike said I guess, I'm not judging (unless somebody uses drugs when people are depending on them - children etc).

Well, it's pretty ******ed to judge anything else than poker hands on a poker forum. Also I don't know anything about you and the background.

But yes, in general, I don't think it's a healthy and safe background to raise kids when drugs are involved. But i don't accept getting drunk in front of your children either, it's wrong. Using alcohol in moderation is ok or getting drunk sometimes (not when children are present) but i just think this moderation is near impossible with drugs like those that you described.

Yeah I was basically needling the general idea of alcohol not being a drug which seems to be very common at least in Finland.

I agree with everything except the last sentence. My drug use over the recent 5 years or so has been very scarce, mainly just because I very much dislike being around the morons and scumbags you have to deal with to buy them and also because I'm not that interested in getting high or partying like I was when I was younger.

Coming to think of it I haven't had anything besides the legal substances since my daughter was born. We are however planning an "all-inclusive" sailing trip with a bunch of friends next summer, my daughter will obv. not be involved. Should be a lot of fun. Speaking of which, I would much rather have a bunch of guys on speed/E/whatever onboard my dad's sailing boat over a weekend instead of a gang of drunks (would probably sink within 12 hours). Alcohol is prob. one of the worst/dumbest drugs out there.

Agreed if you're referring to all the anti-social behavior, debt, crime etc.. then yeah of course. But otoh it's not like everyone drinking alcohol ends up being a spurgu sleeping in trams either. Meh, this is a subject I've discussed to death over the years and I don't really care that much what other people think.

There will always be people for/against/indifferent and of those who do drugs there will always be those who go too far, those who keep strict moderation and everything in between. Fwiw I've tried about every drug there is at least once with the cardinal rule that no needles are involved. Never had any addiction problems with anything besides weed that I smoked too much and too often for a year or so. Oh and nicotine. That's definitely the worst drug I know in terms of addictiveness.

Neither MDMA nor ecstacy are chemically adictive. It's just as easy to take them in moderation as it is alcohol.

How's ecstacy different from MDMA? I know that's the active ingredient in it, but they don't do exactly the same thing. Is it just down to how you consume them?

Same thing afaik, tho when someone says 'Ecstacy' - I think 'pill form cut with some amphetamine' while when someone says 'MDMA', I think 'pure uncut'. Molly seems to be what fools are talking about around here these days tho, which is just crystal form rather than tablet. My buddy was trying to claim he took it some strange way recently, but I can't really recall how. I'm not super up to date on a personal level though as I don't even smoke anymore.
