+1 to liking house/trance beats. i think you can make the argument in the other direction. it seems that house/trance is gaining in popularity and influence on other musicians. I hear samples of these types of beats in many more rap/hiphop songs and various indie rock bands than I ever did before. hardly indicative of a waning trend imo.

Home bread baking success by replicating a commercial bread oven. The type of dough doesn't matter much as long as it is ready to be baked. The long, slow, fermentation process that lends itself to no knead bread produces great flavor. If you are into bread, check out Tartine Bread.

Personally I find straight techno annoying, but I listen to trance the majority of the time that I'm grinding. It serves a function imo.

As to being universally mocked in 5 years (makes it sound like it wasn't invented almost half a century ago but whatever), so what? I listen to music because I listen to music, not because others listen to it.
Agree.

I feel like I autopilot if I am listening to anything but house/trance music. But when I am not grinding I like to listen to everything and don't really discriminate.

It may be a trend or whatever, but who gives a ****. We are already a scarred generation and will probably only be remembered for booty bass music. :P

music depends on my mood. Sometimes I play with hardcore and sometimes with classical music. (I listen to almost anything besides death metal things).

i think trance matches the flow pretty well of rush, but it sometimes has the opposite effect you're describing in terms of autopiloting. my thought processes tend to go to hell when theres so much awesome streaming through my headphones.

+1

When I start singing along to the music, it's pretty much over.

put on some hardstyle. You can't sing along with beats drumming in your ears.

Thoughts on buying a classic 60s car as a daily driver?

My biggest fear is obviously maintenance is going to suck.

I've never seen anyone successfully make it work. From friends in HS to friends in college, I've never seen it successfully implemented, and I live in a very moderate climate.

Even my friends who've known how to work on their cars (beyond just standard maintenance and bolt on mods) and liked to do it, couldn't make it work as a reliable daily driver (fwiw though, several were Mustangs).

I love old muscle cars, and would love to rock a Chevelle or GTO on the daily, but I really don't think it's feasible.

Just my $0.02

Yeah, I agree with you, I just really really want one!

My dad has a 57 T-bird and a 65 Mustang both of which run really well. He put a decent amount of work into them when he first got them but since then neither has required too much upkeep. He's had both for ~10 yrs at this point.-
02-03-2011 , 05:07 PM
Did he use them as a daily driver though? People take for granted how reliable cars are these days... older cars simply weren't designed that well.
02-03-2011 , 05:08 PM
Yeah, he drives the Mustang 4-5 times per week and the T-bird 1-2 times per week

Pretty fantastic idea really. Probably not great without a ratio thing as, during baseball season, I could see it constantly pointing to the ballpark on game day, but pretty cool nonetheless.

good idea, but does it have any realistic usage?

Prop bet?

Given that a lot of genres are already 20+ years old...

Informal poll:

A girl you've slept with and dated has broken up with you and claims she wants to be "friends". She's shown vague signs of interest (and disinterest) post breakup. She comes to come over to your place, drunk, at 10 PM a couple months later (after a few chance encounters). What is the chance she knows/expects/wants to sleep with you?
02-04-2011 , 02:40 PM
90% +?
02-04-2011 , 02:42 PM
If you end up at someones house late at night, drunk, what are you looking to have happen? Assuming a girls thought process is at all the same as a dudes, she wanted to ****.
