Game is $200 max $1/2. I've got about $150, villian has about $250, he is not that great of a player, I've played with him before. Ok, I'm in late position raise to $10 against a limper. Get three callers. Flop comes 10 8 2 rainbow. Villian bets $20, folds to me and I call. Turn is a 6, he checks. I bet $30. He calls. River is a 7. He bets $40. No possible flush on board.

Rate my line up to this point and should I call this river bet?

Preflop 10/10 although
Flop depends on reads on his donking range and how often he will stack off with Tx 8x etc so fine sometimes, probably best against unknown
Turn 3/10 $30 into $80 not clever he calls $60 just as often imo
River meh can be a blocker and you get 4-1 but is close. Flip a coin and call anyway

just ship it in on the flop and you won't be in this mess. As played, I think it's often enough a blocker to call the river.

Thanks guys. My thinking for not raising the flop was : "Ok, I'm not quite deepstacked but still definetly not shortstacked. If he does have a set or two pair, which is unlikely but possible, I'd rather end this hand with $30 left instead of $0 left. If I had like $100, I'd probably raise all in."

As played, I called the river and he had ace ten so I won the pot.

sounds to me like you're playing scared money.
My reasoning always is, I rather end up with 0$ then knowing I made the wrong play.
Often though it's a combination of both
