Preflop Advice. Not that exciting. Preflop Advice. Not that exciting.

BTN: 106.02 BB (VPIP: 7.35, PFR: 7.35, 3Bet Preflop: 3.57, Hands: 72)
SB: 89.58 BB (VPIP: 20.00, PFR: 10.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 30)
Hero (BB): 147.04 BB
UTG: 117.58 BB (VPIP: 24.36, PFR: 17.95, 3Bet Preflop: 9.09, Hands: 79)
MP: 205.96 BB (VPIP: 20.21, PFR: 16.44, 3Bet Preflop: 6.67, Hands: 296)
CO: 97.36 BB (VPIP: 15.93, PFR: 10.62, 3Bet Preflop: 4.00, Hands: 115)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has K A

UTG raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, BTN calls 3 BB, fold, Hero raises to 12 BB, UTG raises to 26 BB, fold, Hero?

I was just looking for some preflop advice here. In my past i would probably have got AK all in preflop, no questions asked. However I'm trying to be a bit more savvy.

If the BTN hadn't flat called then I would just be cold calling my AK from the blinds. However given he is so tight I put him on pocket pairs mainly, maybe AK & AQ. Correct assumption?

I didn't want to play a 3 way pot OOP with unsuited AK so thought a raise preflop was best to get the pocket pair to fold, and get heads up with the UTG raiser. I figured he could have AK, AQ, AJ, KQ type hands he may call with.

Maybe a call from the SB is still best even with the BTN caller. Just looking for some thoughts.

Thanks

Pre is standard/good with a cold caller in the pot, now you should either push or fold depending on what you think about UTG. I would push against this one since he does not look too tight but I would check his utg open stat and 4bet stat first and then make a decision basing on that.

Agree 100% with this.

Folding is ridiculous in this spot. If the 4-bet was bigger, I'd agree. We have to call 14 to win 31.5 which is roughly 2.5:1 which means we only need roughly 25% to call. We flop a pair roughly 30% of the time.

And do we win If we flop a K against KK+ tight 4bet value range from UTG?

I believe we do because nobody's that tight vs a squeeze.

Even this is the case (wich I think is not true) we cannot compare 25% and 30% like you do, i.e. without considering postflop. Actualy against a reasonable player we need to decide whether we shove pre and see all 5 cards (or get a fold) oop or we fold pre.
