I know I'm missing some, but I can barely keep my eyes open.
I don't get all the shortstack hate.

Clearly they are making money. If they weren't making money, they wouldn't do it. If anything, hate Pokerstars for allowing it to run as rampant as it is. I don't even bother with non 50bb tables anymore because when a table has two or three shortstacks it just isn't fun, challenging, and no money to be made.
But, If I couldn't make money sitting full stacked but could shortstacked, why wouldn't I do it?

Don't hate the playah, hate the game.

Its not just registering through pokerstars... you have to sign over your rights to wear patches and stuff for anyone other then stars, so if you 1) make a TV table, you get no chance for a deal since youre already obligated to wear PS gear, and 2) If you make a FT you wont be able to get a huge deal like everyone else, since youll be forced to wear stars stuff

Lol yeah he ended up staying quite a while Unfortunately I barely made any money off him and the only big pot I won I got it in bad.

Edit: Also many thanks to louisnapsack for telling him his losses from ptr and then quitting like 3 hands later. Well done.

Well if you get 600k vpps the rakeback you get amounts to ~1ptbb. Obv not a wonderful winrate but for those that break even win or lose a little pre rake back they still have a decent hourly esp if they are 15-24 tabling.
12-14-2009 , 01:32 AM
lol yeah i was at that table, he put in work lol.
12-14-2009 , 01:33 AM
ill just say you cant tell by ptr when they started shortstacking or if theyve ever fullstacked. only if they ss during the whole of the graph AND ptr catches all their hands, your stats are a valid example

Well if PTR misses some of there hands it should be equally likely to overstate as understate there winrate.

that would be true only if they had a zero WR, or very low variance, which seem to be mutually exclusive, most of the time you have a very low WR you have a very high variance, therefore it increases the chances of of mistating the WR. and if your WR is >0 its more likely to overstate and if its <0 its more likely to understate. to see why just think of a normal curve w/ any given WR, the mean being their true WR, and think where 0 is in relation, if its >0 youll have more of a chance of var showing a +wr and vice versa

Thank you for the email. PokerStars did offer 2009 WSOP players 100,000 VPPs to
play the WSOP wearing our logo. I doubt this will be offered again in 2010.
