I think this was my standard winrate at 50pl on Party back in the day

Also I bet $128461489.38 that I won't have a bonus waiting for me when I get home, any takers?

its called a stop loss...its different for most people but its whenever you start to tilt which is normally like 3-4 buy ins for most. my stop loss is usually 5 buy ins. there will always be time to get it back.

edit:unless game is super fishy. I dropped 6 buy ins against a fish once on party and bought back in and he left with nothing. if a person is that bad then continue to play.

I think sbrugby said his stop loss was 3 bi

I stop for the day(s) depending on how bad it got to me. I just sat down to play some hands and wasn't expecting what happened. Started out rough then I reacted pretty bad then it got worse. I'm just glad I stopped looking at cashier and totals this month cause pretty sure I would be in a lot of shock right now instead of just knowing I got into some crazy situations and didn't handle it as well as I could have. Thanks to a fish for getting me off tilt though, that rocked.

Stop losses are dumb if youre playing well. If you have tilt issues fix that leak. Games are only getting worse and will continue to do so, eventually we'll all regret not putting in more volume.

Obv. the point of the stop loss is when it affects your play and you are no longer playing well so point is kinda moot.
07-24-2008 , 05:02 PM
Obv the point is that most people should just work on fixing their tilt control and should get rid of stop losses completely. Why let an easily fixable leak ruin your days play.

Your assumption that tilt control is easily ridden is a little off imo. edit: that is, for everyone

I just tried the cash pick-up option for the first time...withdrew yesterday afternoon and had cash in my hand this morning. Pretty damn great, if you ask me.

Even being 'microtilted' I just step away from the tables. I think the most effective tilt control is stepping away 100%. You may think you're still playing optimally, but you're probably playing 90-95% at best. Playing non optimally is -EV.
07-24-2008 , 05:21 PM
^ i think i can play non-optimaly and still be +EV such as when im autopiloting
07-24-2008 , 05:21 PM
How hot headed do some of you have to be to let tilt mess up your sessions this bad? It is a fixable leak. The simple facts that you understand variance and should have a healthy roll that a swong won't effect you should be good enough to control tilt. Tilting is a massive leak and if you get up before it controls your game thats fine but we're all SSNL so we still have plenty of leaks, why not try and plug one of the most obvious/simple ones?
07-24-2008 , 05:33 PM
Even if you can be profitable autopiloting I don't agree that it's the best choice. When your brain becomes used to playing non optimally, you're going to have to stress it to establish more optimal paths later on. It's like building a habit that isn't awful, but is something that you won't want to have later on.

QFT, RF taught me that going to the blackjack table to win $400 is the surefire way to end a losing session
