Assume villain with 100bb stack, no reads at all, just sat down at the table..
6-handed cash game, hero (BTN) and villain (SB/BB) see the flop.

Hero 100bb
Villain 100bb

Pre-flop: Hero is BTN with xx
Hero raises to 3bb, villain calls 3bb

Flop: (6bb) 78Q (2 players)
villain bets 6bb, Hero ?

What does hero do here with:

1. 96
2. JJ
3. QT
4. J6
5. A4 ?

1. 96 call
2. JJ raise/fold
3. QT call
4. J6 call
5. A4 raise/shove

I'd fold 1). Your draw is pretty terrible, Ts, 5s aren't clean outs, and I don't really like bluffraising on that wet of a board.

I'd flat 2) and 3). Can't see much value in raising. I'd raise 5) and call a shove, hoping to get it in against dominated draws.

Not sure about 4).

i'd probably call every one of those hands

prob folding hand one and calling all others

Folding hand 1 is kind of weak don't ya think? You have 8 outs, 6 real outs, and you have position. There's a lot of implied odds if you hit. I would almost never fold hand 1, and might even raise if I know he donks a lot.

Calling all of those hands. Possibly raising A4ss but prob calling that too. Folding 69? Seriously?

I raise every single hand.

I'd probably call with all of those. As4s is the closest one to doing something else and that would be raising.

Are those calling 69o doing this primarily as a float, to try and take it on the turn? The draw itself doesn't seem that good to me, especially if he's donking with fds, T9 etc. Also, what's the reason for just flatting the A4ss? Deception/balance?
10-13-2009 , 12:20 PM
We cant balance vs an unknown. Its only about standard play. Basically if an unknown pot bet here we must assume he has some piece of that board and not over estimate our fe or our implieds. That is to say every hand may be a call apart from 1, with too much uncertainty and maybe 4 that who leads us in the fog.

btwn floats where we can pick up the pot later and times we make a hand, this should be profitable. being in position is fun.

raise all of them
10-13-2009 , 01:25 PM
Seriously what are people thinking when they opt to raise JJ or QT here?

I don't think raising any of those hands vs. an unknown is such a great idea .... but if I was going to I much prefer one of the draws.
