UTG is a fish. Raises lots of hand from any position and on postflop tends to call cheap bets with gutshot middle pairs.

UTG: $120.65
Hero (CO): $102.36
BTN: $26.88
SB: $90.80
BB: $103.01

Pre Flop: ($0.60) Hero is CO with AA
UTG raises to $ 3, Hero raises to $ 9, fold, fold, fold, UTG calls $ 6.

FLOP: ($18)
Qs 8d 3c

UTG checks, Hero bets $ 9

Is it ok an half pot cbet here trying to getting value from gutshots, middle pairs and hands like 77, 99, TT, JJ?

What sort of fish? Calling station? I would tend to go bigger in general since our range is going to me more weighted towards value hands against fishy types.

Yes he likes to call but is capable of raising strong hands. I was asking myself if in general cbetting half pot is a leak in these spots

I'd bet $13 with the info you give

If he really does call down middle pair and those PP on boards like that,

well I don't see many fish folding TT JJ there on the flop anyways, I'd bet like $13 as CCM said, if he calls $9 he's probably calling $11-13

i know he likes to call cheapy bets with such as those hands. I would like to know if betting half pot on similar spots with the intention of extracting value from gutshots and lower pair is a leak

the way I see it as a leak is I think your missing value, as he is more than likely to call a 60% bet as he would a 50% pot sized bet, are we on the same page or am I still off
08-25-2010 , 02:17 PM
why would he be more likely to call 60% than 50%

I would think his calling frequency is 100% identical

The betsize you choose should be such that you can bet/bet/shove and not have any one of the bets be particularly huge

so like $12/$28/shove or something

Valuebet this kind of fishes to death in this spot..i'd go 13.50.

And no,i don think cbetting to extract value frm smaller pairs and gutterballs here is a leak.

C-bet more, his calling range doesn't really change all that much between $9 and like $14. It is better to get bigger bets in on the flop and turn because if he is ******ed enough to call gut shots and stupid draws then he won't call your river bet all that often because most of his **** missed. Also if the river bet is a smaller amount he is more likely to call off his hand with mid pairs.

yep what the others said.. as a general rule, fishes fold more the closer we are to the river, so start building a pot early.. like moneyprinting yo

Against a station make it $11 pf - as played bet $15 on the flop.

If he's a station as you say you might as well bet bigger since he's going to call you either way. $15 sound good.
