He's very tricky and has a sick and twisted logic. We're on 4 tables together and playing several pots together because we both like to play pots. There's some history of him overbetting in different spots, and we've been discussing overbetting quite a bit lately. He's playing very fast and volatile, and he's being an ass in general. I've been overbet a couple of times already, and we've played a couple of 3bet pots and one 4bet pot together. For all you statnerds, he's playing around 25/19 or something. Fwiw, all his overbets were 2x pot.

SB bets $60, $60 to Hero ($459.10)?

Even though he has bet double the pot on the river, I'm still raising this sort of opponent, he could have done that for value with overpairs, 3x, AJ.

I'd barrel turn and snap as played. Raising is probably very bad.

His betting range is pretty wide here, but he don'est call your raise with worse most of the time. I call here pretty quickly, clubs missed and he realizes you don't ahve a strong hand, and those reasons enough let you call.

I think you have to call this.

Vs some non-thinking regs this is 77 or someother weird boat nearly all the time but given that this opponent has given overbetting some thought his range will be wider than this.

If you raise I don't think he will call worse given that there are some boats in your range; for example you may have checked back the turn hoping he improves to a flush

So, the consensus is pretty much call.

What if he bets something more standard, like $26 or so?

I'm not sure if I buy that he 'wont call with worse', I think a lot of people can talk themselves into calling with worse PARTICULARLY when they are tricky and realise they have a tricky image and their opponent could be making a sick move on them. I think it's leaving money on the table not raising here, just my opinion though.

Um, I really doubt he'd be bluffing here like ever. He is repping clubs, probably means he does not have them. That said he probably does it a lot with threes, maybe even AJ.

Also the more you seen him over bet before, the more likely he is in line here. His over bets become thinner probably.

if he is decent he is definitely bluffing here, regs play super super nitty to overbets, even in spots like there where most things missed. Once we check the turn we have <JT, unless we have 45 we aren't happy here.

I think this is a raise/fold. Given that the two of you have some kind of dynamic going on he may put you on a polarized range here and look you up with a bunch of hands.
07-12-2009 , 01:27 PM
Raise folding is bad not only because I doubt he calls with worse. Its bad because Hero never has a boat here and villain probably realizes this.
07-12-2009 , 01:30 PM
Corsakh, you think we have to call regardless, because he could shove over us and I might have my dinner come up the wrong end?
07-12-2009 , 01:42 PM
I don't know why would you want to do it to yourself.
07-12-2009 , 01:45 PM
Flat call if your playing safe but against this opponent i would raise him and if he pushes over that call and stack him. Smells like hes playing A3 this way thinkin that he is way ahead he will never think youve hut str8 on river. Easy raise / shove imo take this guys money let him reload and stack him again
07-12-2009 , 01:53 PM
Fistpump call.
07-12-2009 , 01:55 PM
Since he must realise you never have a boat here, and also I think it pretty unlikely he has one, I would only be raising here if I planned on calling it off vs. this opponent.
07-12-2009 , 02:01 PM
im never folding here, guess a call is fine but under these circumstances a raise/call could be fine too.. kinda a on-the-spot decision for me
07-12-2009 , 02:21 PM
I think it's a more interesting question what you do here with

-67s
-66

I think 45s is a pretty clear call here.
07-12-2009 , 02:24 PM
66 would be interesting, although you could then have 45. And also you'd never get here like this with 66.
07-12-2009 , 02:27 PM
I can't really believe ppl are saying raise/call 380b deep.
07-12-2009 , 02:29 PM
call all day
07-12-2009 , 02:48 PM
I think he has a J a lot here or some type of pair with solid showdown value that is probably balancing on the flop with a check and so I think he's going for thin/weird value a ton on the river. I think a raise is mandatory. Raise/fold might be good. Jamming is horrible.
