playing 2-5 nl live, 9 players.

i hold 99, in mid position, with a stack of $1000
early pos raises to $25, i flat, button flats and BB flats.

flop: 2

BB checks, early pos checks, i bet $40 into $102 pot
button folds, BB calls, early pos folds

BB has 600 in front of him

turn is 4

BB leads out with $70 into $282 pot
I raise to $250, BB calls

river is J

BB leads out $300 into $582

what should i do? no reads on the guy, has been limping a lot and playing a lot of hands but has shown strong hands at showdown so far.

You can't fold a set for a half-pot bet, if that's what you're asking (unless you played with this guy in tons of sessions and you know for a fact he will never do this with something you beat). Just call.

as much as it sucks, I think you have to call. Even though you will see the flush a lot, its a profitable call live imo

ok thanks.

folded and got shown the bluff...

at the time i just couldn't work out what hand flat calls the turn and leads out when a heart comes that isn't a flush draw. other than a bluff. however i guess i'm probably ahead more than 25% of the time so i should be calling a half pot bet in this spot.

i was hoping to induce a shove with the flop underbet, the guy on the button had been getting it in pretty light.

on the turn i didn't mean to underbet, maybe this is where i got into trouble.

The way he played the hand makes him look like a typical 2/5 live spaz. I'm calling here always.

Also, bigger raise on the turn, like $300 or so.

EDIT: agree with betting bigger on the flop too. Not really a good spot to 'induce' with all the draws.
