Hey all,
I consider myself an average/break even player, I wanted to find out what strategies or tactics have really improved you small stakes full ring cash games. I started to play around with light 3 betting and have discovered it has done wonders to my game. It would be cool to find out what strategys or tactics have made a big improvement to others game.
Thanks

If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to take your time before every single decision. When your playing alot of tables it's really easy to get into the habit of snap clicking buttons.

Forcing yourself to take a few seconds before every single decison will prevent you from going on auto pilot/tilt and do wonders for your winrate.

Confirming that the most important thing for my winrate is whom I play against.

#1) Yes, this is very important, when your playing 1/2 at your casino, everything is what it seems. It might look like someone is bluffing, or squeezing, or trying to outplay you. Thats almost never the case, no one is 3betting light, no one is squeezing, no one is out to get you!

#2) Stop playing out of position. Perfect example, you limp in early pos. with 45s, someone raises to $12... FOLD!

Dont 3 barrel stations with air, no matter how good you think your hand looks. They are high lighted green with a little fish symbol for a reason

Poker is surprisingly analogous to fishing. A successful fisherman:

- Knows the best spots to fish (i.e. where the most/biggest fish are).
- Understands what bait/lures to use against what fish, because he understands various fishes’ appetites and tendencies.
- Moves on to a different spot if no fish are biting where he happens to be.
- Does not scare away the fish by yelling at them when they happen to get away with his bait.

I'd be pretty pissed if I went fishing and a bass would jump out of the water and swimm off with my wallet though

I think a very mundane (PF-lol) lightbulb moment I had was that the range you open influences what range you should defend with and that you should be aware of that.

He is probably talking about defending a GTO range against unknowns vs 3-bets, which will be narrower if his opening range is narrower.
