Writing thank-you notes to recruiters for talking to you at a career fair seems like such bull****. I want to know who the first *** who did that is so now it's basically a requirement. The real world, lolz. Please please please come back poker so I can retire early

I didn't write any thank you notes after the last career fair I went to. Didn't even know that was a standard thing. I do write thank you emails after interviews though. Last fair I went to had ~140 companies and was hosted by my college. They sent out a mass email to all students to let them know. So I showed up and not one company was recruiting or looking to talk to people from my major (Digital Media). WTF? It seems that if you weren't in finance, engineering, or business that you were SOL. I talked to a few tech companies and got an email from one which was surprising but it was a pretty miserable experience.

Anyhow, happy Valentine's Day. Wife got me one of my favorite beers ever which is Hopslam and seasonal. If any of you beer lovers see it on a shelf, disregard the price and just grab it!

about the shoe discussion, i'm pretty old and now find myself wearing shoes i would have scoffed at even 4 years ago.. i'm in love with Allen Edmonds, i have a pair of walnut park aves that I wear when I go out to bars/clubs, a pair of cliftons that I wear to work and rotate with my Dalton boots. They're all quality shoes and I love them. 5 years ago I would have looked at them and been like "WOAH super ugly" and when I dissed banana shoes, that's only cause I used to wear those things and they don't look bad but the quality isn't there (which you'll realize about all banana products especially those ****ty dress shirts that you can't iron the wrinkles out of EVER).

Either way, I would still never wear a pair of AEs around college or whatnot, that's what sneakers/boat shoes/etc are for, it's just not their place...but when you wear suits every day man nothing like AEs to make you feel good.. can't even imagine what it's like when you break into the 1k-5k shoe range but at that point i guess you just go gay

Lol, Lin most definitely did NOT suck at Golden State.

http://www.thenbageek.com/articles/j...otally-knew-it

Relative to the average PG, in very limited minutes, Lin was better at rebounding, turnovers, blocking shots, steals, and getting to the line (note that he took fewer shots than the average PG but had nearly as many free throws).
His shooting numbers are not great, but it was 285 minutes, many fantastic shooters have been cold over even longer stretches. It was a small sample but that sample shows that he deserved a longer look.

Don't get me wrong, it makes sense that a team with Ellis and Curry wouldn't want to keep him, but Lin performed pretty well in is limited minutes.

Never go to a fancy restaurant with a friend on valentines day when you are hungry. People think you are gay esp. showing off with wayfarers and RL scarf.

if you weren't hungry they'd think you were just friends grabbing a bite?

re: follow up e-mail's, if you're at a career fair and really hit it off with a recruiter, i'd get a business card and shoot them an e-mail later

so one of my best friend's gf has this thing where every year for valentine's regardless of whether she's single or dating someone, her and a big group go to hooter's to 'protest' valentine's day. kinda a fun tradition, and i went last year with them before her and my friend got together

Yeah, so what if he just wanted to buy his "friend" a rose while they're sharing a dessert?
