Terp might have been stretching, but I was exhausted!

Sup Shpanko. Nah, haven't grinded since Black Friday. Ran it up every once in a while, only to bust it back, but purely for fun. Just put 100 bucks on boape cuz why not. If anyone has better ideas on american sites lemme know. I know nothing nowadays.

Got married about a month ago. Have an internship for an actuary company. No more degening . Its a sad life . How you been? Also, I demand goofyballer!

I just got back from a three day backcountry hiking/camping trip in Glacier National Park. Here's an orange-style TR.

I flew into Montana and drove up to the Canadian border with my friend. We took a boat from Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta through the international peace park and back into America.

Boat:

View from the boat:

After a quick 3 mile hike we made it to our first campsite at Kootenai Lakes.

It was a long day so we just ate and hung up our food so the bears wouldn't come and then fell asleep pretty quickly.

The second day was a 9 mile hike with about 2500 feet of elevation gain up to Fifty Mountain.

Cool waterfall on the way:

The water in the streams all came direct from glaciers and snow fields on top of the mountains. It was really cold and delicious.

Filtering the water:

The hike was pretty difficult. The trail was overgrown.

Stopping for lunch:

Finally the brush started to clear and we were close to the valley.

Views in the valley:

After another mile or two we made it to our second campsite.

My friend decided to go check out another trail that evening where he took this panoramic:

Later that night we met a group of four pretty cool people at our campsite who we ate dinner with and shared some whiskey.

That night was mildly terrifying as we kept hearing large animals outside. The deer came in right next to our tent to scavenge for any food we left at the food prep area. If any bears came we were armed with this stuff:

The next day we headed back the way we came. It was about 11 miles this time but considerably easier since it was mostly downhill, though still difficult since it works a lot of different muscles. We made good time and decided to jump back on the boat rather than staying at our third campsite because the third campsite was a three-sided shelter that didn't look very appealing. Instead we drove to a commercial KOA campground, which was like the opposite of backcountry camping as it had a pool, hot tub, bathrooms with showers, a bocce ball court and other random amenities.

Scenic drive on the way home the following day:

That trip sounds like a ton of fun! I've been doing a decent bit of hiking lately, will have to take some pictures of the next time I go.

Excellent TR!

I'm in Snowmass at a conference for a week now, and am just remembering how much I miss hiking.

Climbed Mt Adams in WA with a few buddies on July 14th to ski/board the route in the pictures. My snowboarding buddy and I backed off riding it cuz simply we didn't want to die (we didn't think it was soft enough). Our skier buddies got down it. Climbing up it was exhilarating in itself.

Looking down...I didn't do that too often:

The ridgeline of what we climbed up:

Hey, I've been playing on America's Cardroom recently, I deposited 100 and I'm only up to playing 0.10/0.25 and 0.25/0.50 in a few weeks, made a lot from bonuses. looks really soft mostly, a lot of aggro regs who don't know what they are doing and 60-80 vpip fish. Seemed like the best option I could find since it has 27% flat rakeback, but I might switch to a New Jersey site once they are up and running. ACR has a debit card withdrawal option where they fund the card but its $5/month fee for the service, not sure if I'm going to do it, they also allow 1 free check per month, but an additional is $65, kind of crazy. Also they do western union but they told me $70 fee to cash out $300 (was $7 fee to deposit $100). Congrats on getting married!

Going to Yosemite for a few days in 2 weeks. Any must sees or recommendations? Drive there monday morning, come back wed or thursday night. Don't have a lot of time unfortunately, staying at a hostel just outside the park at Midpines?

I really enjoyed doing the half dome hike. It's a pretty big one (like 15+ miles round trip) and it's not great for people who are scared of heights, but it's really awesome/unique.

If you guys do want to do this, be sure to buy some permits. You can either get them online or just call them via telephone. If it says they're filled online, I would just call them- I was able to get one like the next day once I called them on the phone.

There are a bunch of easy day hikes you can check out as well. I would recommend just going to the visitor's center and asking the rangers what they recommend for some day hikes if that's what you're interested in.

Hike to the top of Yosemite falls and Half Dome. Both are day hikes. Half Dome is 16 miles round trip with a 5000 foot elevation gain so be well rested for that one. The fall hike is much easier but has also has a significant elevation gain. Don't do them back to back days obv :P

And don't get anywhere near the rivers on top of the waterfalls unless you like really big water slides
People die every year from thinking it's safe to play in the water then get dragged off a 1-3k foot waterfall.

Cool thanks guys. Do I need any safety equipment or anything for those? I doubt I will have any, plus I'm a very amateur climber and friend has basically no experience. Looks amazing though
