Got a phone interview today with a company who has run a couple presidential nominees web presence for the 2012 election. Should be interesting. I wonder how you guys feel about working for a company that works under a candidate that you disagree with and don't think should be president/senator/whatever? I don't think I have a problem doing that but I've been thinking about it for a while so whats your guys opinions?

It wouldn't matter all that much to me. Job's a job in this economy.

11-16-2012 , 11:27 AM
lol no?
11-16-2012 , 12:18 PM
I expect that it's going to come up in the interview so you need a better answer than "lol no?" or similar.

i was replying to the responses above mine...

working for someone you hate is pretty normal ime.

it would bug me a lot, but i tend to make bad financial decisions, so take that with a grain of salt.

Cross posting this in a few places:

After calling her yesterday, I just got a voicemail from Linda Olson in the SDNYC DOJ office

"Administrator will be assigned or appointed before or by Jan 1, 2013, he or she will then set up rules for the administration of the petitions process to get your money back."

So at least we have some sort of timeline?

I would never do this unless the alternative meant starvation. I'd rather go wash dishes for minimum wage.

Then again, if it doesn't bother you, go ahead. For most people I suppose it wouldn't be a problem unless it was a guy that opposes your beliefs; IE an anti-gay politician if you are gay yourself.

it would bother me a lot less if they had a wide enough client base that i could avoid the disagreeable clients until i decided to jump ship a couple of years later.

Meh, **** it. It's not like you're gonna work here for life. Make some money from them til you find something better.

Hi ****ers!
Getting old sucks. Since I turned 40 in August I've strained my lower back, strained both my quads trying to do hill sprints, had 3 fillings removed and replaced with crowns, 2 root canals after the fact cuz my whole head was pounding for weeks, and I even went to a heart doctor cuz I was having panic attacks during the same time as my dental problems. I felt my heart palpitating and was feeling light headed all the time. Of course the day I go to the doctor all symptoms disappeared and I've been fine since. I'm sort of a hypochondriac.

On the plus side, I changed my diet to a semi paleo type and have been lifting a lot. I'm stronger now than at any point in my life. I just wish I could gain weight.

Thanks for update maniac

B, I had heart palpitations as well. Finally decided to go to ER and they went away, lol. They prob thought I was an idiot

That's what old people are supposed to do. Rant about their health problems
I'm just practicing.

That ****'s scary huh?! I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. I've heard dental work can affect your heart due to loosened plaque or some ****. I really feel there was a connection as I was getting my head pain during this time. At least I can still get boners.

I'm assuming you don't have much experience/other job opportunities that are better than this so why would you turn it down? (Not saying this to be a dick, but from my understanding you're fresh out of University?) I could only understand turning this down if you had tons of experience that could easily land you a job somewhere that you would enjoy more.

Get experience then worry about getting a job you like.

To be clear: My post about maniac, I was referring earlier to madmaniac's post about the DOJ. I wasn't calling you a maniac, lulz. I should have quoted his post.

Anyone happens to have great idea's for a honeymoon? We are considering maldives, but can only afford one week in a good resort and I think a one week honeymoon is less than ideal. We like bounty beaches, luxury and good food. Partying is not important to us at all. Budget is 5-6k EUR.

I have also been looking at some trips around thailand, malaysia, indonesia or so, but I am not too sold on that since I'd just like to chill out. Maldives seems strictly better than bahamas or seychelles.

Anyone happen to have some experience or nice ideas?

Sell couch
Afford > one week
Win at life

I could most likely get a standard web dev job doing boring **** 40hrs/week and making a decent salary for the job itself. I've got a couple decent other opportunities right now due to working under the assistant director of my college and him being connected to others in the industry around here.

But, while I don't really like the candidates this company has worked for, I do really like politics in general and think this job would be incredibly interesting and perhaps a great launch pad for a job in the future that is connected with politics.

The interview itself went pretty well today and the lead developer said he was putting together some more technical problems today that he'd email me about in the next week. They did ask if I had an interest in politics and I explained I did and asked how the workplace was with respect to personal politics and he said it's pretty diverse and everyone is respectful blah blah.

Also, 2 months 2 million is on Netflix if any of you are interested.
