JJ vs Tighty Whitey JJ vs Tighty Whitey

Villain is 14/8/4.4 over about 1k hands and is probably white.

I decided to call pf since his opening range is so nitty. I bet the turn to protect from/ get value from overs/smaller pairs with diamonds. I call the checkraise since I am getting decent odds to see if he is getting out of line with aforementioned hands, and I dont expect him to follow through with his bluffs/semibluffs on the river. Too loose? Anyone check back turn?

Probably just fold to the c/r even though it's small. I don't think you are ever ahead unless you have really good reason to believe he's getting out of line with like AK with a diamond or something. The small pairs are probably not in his UTG opening range but I think I still bet the turn to charge him when he has overcards with a flush draw.

i would fold turn.

lolll

what does him possibly being white have anything to do with anything?

even if he is getting feisty on the turn we're basically going to have to fold to any river bet but we don't know if he ever continues his bluffs unimproved on the river.

I'd also try to give some sort of reasonable % to the amount of times this c/r is air vs an overpair when trying to decide whether to continue. This guy is a massive massive nit - I think I'm being generous to our nitty friend when I estimate it's probably a bluff less than 25% of the time. On top of that the hands he's bluffing with are generally gonna be AK/AQ probably with a diamond, which have pretty good equity still, and when we are beat we're thoroughly crushed.

all that said, ingame, I'd probably snapcall the turn and pray he checks riv

Betting turn is fine but the call of the turn check-raise is really really bad against a 14/8 nit. He has a flush (I think only the Ace high flush in his case) or 44/88 every SINGLE FREAKING TIME.

Call turn only if you phoned ahead and confirmed a 3 or a Jack is the river card.

My take..

-Getting c/r on the turn is usually bad news for your big pair/op type hands.
-He didnt seem to mind potentialls giving a free card on that board meaning to me he has AAd/KKd/88/44/33 massive amount of time
-Hes a huge nit

But FWIW dont think I can check back the turn there. I think we're good a lot of the time and, as stated, hes a nit so you can't expect him to get out of line too often so I see no real harm in playing this slightly face up, IMO.

He showed you AxAd didn't he?

You can just fold the turn

If you're scared preflop, you could almost view JJ as 55 on the turn.

Turn c/r looks awfully polarized to like teh_nizzles (stuff that beats you) and semi-bluffs, so you can fold there imo. Seeing any showdowns would be helpful, but without any history and stuff, I am probably checking turn or folding if I decide to bet and get checkraised.

Where does the value come from when we play this hand vs this villain? I would assume set value and showdown value?

vs this nit i would rather bet the turn with air than jj. that guy is not ch/c with 99/TT. hes going to b/f or c/f.

and if you do bet turn calling the raise isnt very god

mreh, cs3, i see bad nits check-call here with 55/66 w. a diamond all the time. i like the bet, you just have to fold to the raise.
