Thanks for the reply. Just curious, why is it a bad idea to bet the river? I guess I bet it to see if he would fold thinking I had the straight.

I think that you should have reads on you're opponent before you make plays like this. I also would bet more the turn you're getting him draw cheaply.

Oh, I wasn't even sure this was a bluff before reading the title. I think no better hands fold here. 2-pair+ won't fold often enough. If you're ahead (you'll be some % of the time) it will often go check, check and you win anyway.
