bad play? hand 1 bad play? hand 1

07-02-2008 , 11:59 PM
Well, I'm on a huge downswing now and its about time I admitted to myself that I have some huge leaks in my game that need help fast. If these seem horribly bad or completely standard, let me know... I'm still mindf#^ed about how I went from about +6bb to +8bb/100 to negative so fast..
I'm going to post all these hands in different threads so it doesn't get confusing some of these are 400nl but I'm going to post them all in ssnl. so if its $400 don't freak out, just divide all the numbers by 2 if you have to.

sorry for the manual conversion, WPX isn't supported on any converters

results: he had AKhh... I don't feel good about this one... you sure I couldn't have gotten away from this?

i don't like the call on the river when villain leads on the turn. i think we can effectively call turn, and fold to a river bet. villain has a straight, flush or boat here way too often for us to call a bet.

just look at the board and what villain can be representing. don't fall in love with you big pairs IMO.

Don't post resulst, but I think it's played fine until the river. You are facing a somwhat tough decision but a fold is best here most of the time.

ya I posted the results cause noone had commented in 12 hours so I figured the thread was dead anyway but I wasn't satisfied with one responce. should I *bump* it next time instead?

also, did anyone notice that it was 72 into a 190 pot? are you still going with a fold?

07-03-2008 , 05:16 PM
yes it is clearly for value. just think about what hands you are beating, which villain is betting turn and river. think about it, and you should reach a clear conclusion.

and next time, bump it if you don't get any replies. also, when you post, just IMO, people don't care about results so FWIW you can post it, but it doesn't really matter. it's about the situations and analyzing them which people care about.

Don't you think our hand looks more attractive after the board pairs?

Little more on flop couldn't hurt. I can't find a fold on the river here for that bet but I expect to lose fairly often.

I don't mind calling this on the river. I would have to fold to a much bigger bet, though. It's marginal.

Sometimes I will do something like minraise the turn and shut down if called, against a fishy opponent. It's a cheaper way to find out where you're at than call-calling, as long as your opponent isn't the type to bluff-shove over a raise or donk-bluff the river. A bad player will call your turn raise with something like top pair as well as a flush, and will probably check to you on the river with top pair (and maybe with a flush, though they often donkpush).
