Hero (MP): $106.45
CO: $159.35
BTN: $219.20
SB: $200.40
BB: $86.70
UTG: $161.55

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is MP with A K
UTG raises to $3.50, Hero raises to $12, 1 fold, BTN calls $12, 2 folds, UTG raises to $45, Hero requests TIME, 1 fold, BTN calls $33

Flop: ($103.50) 8 J 9 (2 players)
UTG checks, BTN bets $172, UTG folds

UTg was running at 32/23/ 3bet 11% AF: 2.9 so pretty aggro so i 3bet pre for value. But when button calls had no stats at the moment but he was like 25/20 15 hands. seems like a bad position.

given the flop action i think Button had some kind of medium sized pocket pair... or like Suited connector. Ok to fold AKo here? i havent really invested much, and its most likely a flip if i get it in or im behind.

As played, fold.

I don't like a 3-bet here even though you give a good description why. When you 3-bet from MP you allow the button to do a lot of things. He can easily 4-bet or cold-call and mess you up on the flop.

What I recommend you do is just call the UTG raise and if the button 3-bets, you shove/4-bet. This also helps with you post-flop because you have a smaller pot to work with and you don't have to stack off when you flop a pair.

AK is still a drawing hand and I'd think its better to raise from the blinds against a late positon raiser where its more likely you have him dominated.

I hope this helps.
