Reviewing a hand from FRR: episode 26 on Deuces Cracked (Sorry for manual formatting).

$0.50/$1.00 9 max
Villain (Button): $52.16 (no previous play)
Hero (SB): $50.00 (no previous play)

Hero has A J

6 Folds. Villain raises $1.25, SB folds, Hero raises $4, Villain calls

Flop ($7.88): T 8 9

Hero checks, Villain bets $4.25, Hero Calls

Turn ($16): 4

Hero checks , Villain Checks

River ($16): 9

Hero bets $12, Villain Folds

My question is on the flop line. This flop just smashes our opponents range. IMO when i'm in this spot I'm X-raising as this is how I play with nuttish hands (QQ+). With these hands we are checking raising this flop since if we bet its too obvious that we have a good hand if we are never cbet bluffing with overs in this spot. Also on this board a lot of turn cards hurt the action so a X-raise is better than a check-call. What do you think of this flop line?

I think this is $0.25/$0.50 not $0.50/$1.00 btw. are we sb or bb? :S
I'll assume we are sb since we 3bet AJo. (even tho you wrote "SB folds")

I'd usually CB flop, because I have enough Jx in x/c range, but I'd say both options are fine. I just think it's easier to play turn/river if we CB flop. (I also don't think it's good to x/r overpairs this deep)
River we could actually x/f, x/r or even x/c vs the right opponents. I guess Bet is standard vs unknown tho.

I wouldn't want to c/r this flop with any hand in a 3b pot. not sure why you would. bad runouts are much less a concern with lower spr's

Sorry Zkesic this is 0.25/0.50 and we are in the BB. I messed up the top of the post.

I dont get what you mean by "I have enough Jx in x/c range" Can you explain this?

Also what is your objective with cbetting? Are you looking for a fold because i think you are rarely getting one in this spot unless the villain thinks you think that and would never bet without a hand on such a wet coordinated board...

I like c/r. It reps sets really well and will get villain off more hands than a Cbet. I also don't like chasing a 4 card straight draw since we rarely get paid when we get there.

If we're in the bb ranges aren't that disparate.

c/r is fine you have a good draw and if you hit the ace your in front most times.
